Japenese Straightening Again - Beth and/or Sandra and others

I am seriously thinking about going in the next few weeks to have this done at the place in Flushing. Thanks so much for the info. Just wondering, if I need a trim should I get it done before I straighten or after when my hair will be longer?

wait until after- they will trim your hair that day- you always need tirm after you get it done

the ends look uneven other wise

get it done! my hair is PIN straight today even in the RAIN- it's amazing

no such thing as a bad hair day anymore

in the past today would have have been a pony tail day!

Thanks again for the info, I am so excited to try it...and not have a pony tail day, like I am today, lol, and not spend a fortune!

Beth, I know I asked you already, but I spoke to someone who had the JS done, and said she had major breakage and is now trying to grow out her hair.

I have some breakage already on the sides (near my ears) and I am nervous about more.

Did you have any before? Or after?

Thank you.

Re: Japenese Straightening Again - Beth and/or Sandra and others

it depends on the person doing it and there experince

one time I had a few pcs break in the back- under neath- you couldn't tell- I know she put the iron too close to my head

the problem is alot of inexperinced people do this b/c it's big money

I would never just go to a random place- I would only take recommedations from other people who have gone to a place

I have pretty strong hair- it falls out- but it doesn't break

and it acutaly falls out less after I get it done- go figure

I have a question...my hair right now is pretty much platinum blonde (highlighted/lowlighted/single processed) is it safe to say that japanese straightening will cause me an immense amount of breakage? if not bald altogether Chat Icon Chat Icon

that's a question for the salon

when I first got it done- I had blonde hightlights and my hair was fine

they just didn't leave the product on as long as they do now- I think that's why I am happier with my results

Erica - I would trim it first. I wasn't happy with the way they cut my hair because I asked them to cut 1 inch and they cut 4! And they do that sideways cutting technique which is horrible for your hair. That was my only complaint with them. But I figured I'd let them do it because it gives you the "look" that goes with the straightening.

if you are worries about having them cut it- I would get it done- and then go to your normal hair stylist after
