Jaw Pain
Over the weekend I decided to buy the Crest Whitening Pre Rinse Mouthwash. For the past two days, I have experienced SUCH pain, tingling, and numbness in the left side of my jaw line. Has ANYONE ever experienced such a thing? TIA

Re: Jaw Pain
I have, but it was related to TMJ and not to a product I used. (And I've never used this product, so I realize I'm less than helpful!)
Maybe a stupid question, but have you stopped using the product? I hope you're feeling better. Is the pain still ongoing?

Re: Jaw Pain
I'm still using the product because I don't want to believe that it's the reason I'm in pain. (I know, I'm silly) No, the pain is not ongoing, it just comes in spurts. Should I stop using it? I mean, has anyone ever experienced pain from a mouthwash????

Re: Jaw Pain
I'd call your dentist.
I would find it odd if the pain were coming from a mouthwash, but if that's the only thing that changed, maybe try not using it for a few days? Sounds silly, but just to rule it out.
Does the pain start back under your ear at all? That could be TMJ or a pinched nerve. I'd call the dentist or your PCP.
If it's TMJ, one thing that relieves pressure for me is to put a wooden pencil (pencils better than pens) in your teeth (so that the pencil is lengthwise across your mouth, not sticking out like a cigar). Close your teeth on the pencil and let the muscles in your jaw and face relax down. Just breath and relax with the pencil in your mouth. Works for me when pain is more acute.
Just a thought in case it IS TMJ... but I'd call the doc or dentist to be sure. Could also be a pinched nerve, I'd think.

Re: Jaw Pain
Another thought - Could be that you have a cavity or something you're not aware of that the mouthwash is aggravating?

Re: Jaw Pain
Your dentist can help with TMJ, too.
Try to avoid clenching your jaw. I have a bad habit of doing this when I am stressed or upset, and it makes it soooo much worse.
Good luck. Mine rarely bothers me anymore, save the occasional flare up. If yours gets or remains bad, there are some things they can do.
Give the doc a call, though. Good luck! I hope you are feeling better soon!
