JC Penney in Lake Success closing - Bed Bath and Beyond to replace it
The store is closing by the middle of next month. I was there yesterday and everything is on sale. Much of their merchandise is 40% off. I usually am not a Penneys customer, but they did have a lot in the way of socks and underwear for men and actually quite a bit of kids and baby clothing. I thought it may be helpful to all the new moms and moms to be.
As for the BB and B. I am psyched. I need a salad spinner - you'd think I could go to a different one in the mean time !

It is right near New Hyde Park. Union Tpke between NHP Road and Lakeville Road. From what I learned yesterday, it was a privately owned store run independently as a franchise. It isnt big and looks as old as X-mas, but it may be worth giving a shot. They have a lot in the way of sheets and pillows and other bedding things downstairs.

....and the downstairs is turning into a Michaels Craft Store.
They're is also talk that eventually the Sears is going to follow. Circuit City is rumored to go in there.
Also something about the Drugs Plus or whatever it's called is leaving.
It really stinks because if I want to pick up something quick at lunch I run right across the street to both stores....now w/both of them leaving... I may actually have to travel somewhere!
I went a couple of weeks ago and got a great pair of shoes and a purse for $60.

Yes! I work in the Gateway bldg. 1983 Marcus. I'm hoping the Sears rumor was just that...a rumor!

I work right near there too. I won't really miss the JC Penney, since it was so small, but I will miss Sears if it leaves. I am psyched about BBB coming in there, though.
Even though the one on Northern Blvd is not too far, I never go to that one. I hate that parking lot, and driving around that area is during prime shopping times.
