Jericho Tpke in Commack closed due to suspicious package at gas station
I'm guessing it's the gas station next to 7-11, right across from Mayfair. It's a Pit Stop or something like that.

Suspicious package closes Jericho Turnpike

The report of a suspicious package at a gas station in Commack has forced the closure of Jericho Turnpike Wednesday morning, Suffolk County police said.
The road has been closed between Beechwood Lane and Mayfair Court, police said.
The 911 call to police was made at 5:56 a.m., police said.
An Emergency Services unit is on the scene, and it is unclear how long the road will remain closed.

Anyone know if it is still closed? I live right there and need to go out that way. I hope everything is okay. That's where I get my gas and the owner is so nice to us.

When Muhterem Bal arrived at his gas station at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday in Commack he saw a black truck in the parking lot, with a man sitting inside.
Bal said he thought, perhaps, the truck had a flat tire.
But when Bal turned on the lights at the Pit Stop station on the corner of Jericho Turnpike and Beechwood Lane, he said the man became jumpy -- and immediately drove off.
Bal then noticed a blue plastic container on the ground near his gas pumps.
"I was a cop in Turkey," Bal, 45, a Turkish immigrant said. "So I know not to touch anything."
Bal said he immediately called police.
The Suffolk County police sent Emergency Services personnel to the scene, concerned the container might be a bomb. As a result, police closed Jericho Turnpike between Beechwood and Mayfair Court for nearly two hours before Bal said police determined the container contained "cleaning products."
Police would only say there were "non-hazardous materials" in the container and that the road was re-opened at 7:55 a.m.
