Jessica Simpson to Wed Eric Johnson After Baby
It's been a whirlwind year for Jessica Simpson, who became engaged to former NFL player Eric Johnson last November and recently confirmed that she's expecting their first child.
"They're really excited," a source tells PEOPLE of the pregnancy. "It wasn't something they planned per se, but it's also not something they were trying to avoid."
Still, it did cause the couple to put the brakes on planning their wedding, which will now probably happen after the baby is born.
"They're both still really committed to getting married, and were both really into making decisions about what kind of wedding they wanted," continues the source, who adds that the nuptials were originally set for this month.
"It's just going to be at a later date now [because] they really want to enjoy this time in their lives."
And despite tabloid reports that the couple is expecting a girl, another source confirms to PEOPLE that they don't know the sex of their baby.
But whether they have to stock up on blue or pink onesies, "they're both very family-oriented and having a baby is something they both wanted," the first source says. "It's wonderful!"

Does anyone else kinda think its weird that she went from the paragon of chastity before marriage in pop-culture to divorcee to now having a child out of wedlock? It just kinda s ucks. I admired that about her.

Does anyone else kinda think its weird that she went from the paragon of chastity before marriage in pop-culture to divorcee to now having a child out of wedlock? It just kinda s ucks. I admired that about her.
I think it is weird only bc she made sucha huge deal about waiting until marriage to sleep w/Nick....a child out of wedlock is a prett big leap from THAT

Ehh, I see it as people get older and their opinions may change. They were engaged before she became pregnant, so the intent to marry was already there. And, she was only 22 when she married Nick...she's 31 now--quite different IMO.

That's right... don't forget she was "sexual napalm" for John Mayer!  So she has obviously come a long way from her virgin-until-marriage former life!

Right that was kinda my point though. Honestly, I really don't care all that much but its just that she came onto the scene like this holy roller and now she's not even going to be married before she has this child. I guess I'm just surprised she didn't try and get married quickly since she was already pregnant instead of putting it off. I'm assuming its because she wants to have a big fancy wedding again.
