Jewish Mamas- What are your kids going to be for Purim?
Jordana still fits into her Halloween chicken costume, but I went to Rickys in Tribeca and all the kid's costumes were 50% off, so I got her a princess costume (from Shrek) and she will be Queen Esther.
Anyone else?

Queen Esther, of course!
They are having a Purim Parade at school on Friday. Alex already has a princess dress from this summer, so I just have to pick up some shoes and a little crown.

What is Purim?
Purim (Hebrew: ????? Pûrîm "lots", related to Akkadian puru) is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people of the ancient Persian Empire from Haman's plot to annihilate them, as recorded in the Biblical Book of Esther (Megillat Esther). According to the story, Haman cast lots to determine the day upon which to exterminate the Jews.

I'm in love with them

Ok in my defense DH is Jewish not me. He mention Purim to me (Caden will be raised Jewish) but said nothing of a costume!!! Hmmmmmmm...I doubt he'll fit in his Halloween Costume.

Ok in my defense DH is Jewish not me. He mention Purim to me (Caden will be raised Jewish) but said nothing of a costume!!! Hmmmmmmm...I doubt he'll fit in his Halloween Costume.
Its traditional to dress up, but most people only do this if they are going to temple to hear the Megilla (Book of Esther) read, or to some sort of Purim event.

This gentile (DH is jewish) is taking a stab to cook them this week for the 1st time.
I do make my own hamentashen every year, but I usually just look up a recipe online. There are plenty of recipes. But my mom would always add a little OJ to the dough.

Ohhh yes, we'll be making them this week. I have the most amazing Hadassah jewish cookbook, and there are a few recipes in there - I can FM them you them later if you want!

Oh Def do! I have a cookbook that Dh's grandmother sent me up from FL. It's all recipes from the ladies at her temple. But i'm always looking for all kinds of recipes. for the same thing. Everyone does something different, or adds something else in it that makes it their own.

Jillian wore her halloween costume for next year She went as Ariel and has lots of pins in her dress so she did not trip over it.. they had a parade in school and a little carnival...
