JHS Hair Club IB review
Mixed feelings on getting JHS.
It took five hours which surprised me … I definitely thought it would take less due to the length of my hair. And the fact that they started freaking out about five minutes after they put the chemicals on my hair.
They actually started rinsing it out of the ends of my hair, insisting I had highlights that were coming out at the bottom inch of my hair. I had highlights done ONCE in November 2005 when my hair was relatively short, grew it out and cut it very short since then, so I was annoyed by their constant insistence. And that because of my “highlights” they couldn’t guarantee it would come perfect – my hair might still be frizzy (GREAT!) or get very damaged. Fun fun fun!!
The girl who did my hair didn’t speak English so there was another girl who “translated” most of the time.
She did an awesome job ironing my hair – I totally wanted it to be done then!!! Anyway, once they put more goop on, then rinsed, it air dried for a while (looked straight but FRIED). Then someone else blew it for a while, FRIED. They trimmed it and blew it with a big round brush. Bottom line, it didn’t look any different than when I do a good job or if I had gotten a haircut/blow.
The put some stuff on my ends, Essence (??? BAM!! Lol) which they said I have to put on my ends because they are so dry.
When I paid, they never said anything about not washing my hair, not pulling it back/putting behind my ears, etc nor did the try to sell me the Essence I supposedly so badly needed. Or tell me to use special shampoo.
Anyway, I have little to no confidence that my hair will be wash & go but I guess I won’t know until after whenever I decide to wash it.
This could have been a complete waste of my “gold selling” money!!!
ETA: My hair is at least two shades lighter now too. And I paid for $30 for the "treatment" that makes your hair shiny ... not.

Re: JHS Hair IB review
Just wait to see how it looks after the first time you wash it. Mine always looks "fired" during the process but looks normal after I wash it. Keep us updated!

i am sorry you didnt have a good experience. Top point fried my hair last time I went - so I know how scary it can be.
My hair has been drying totally straight from Hair Club - I am very happy with it. I hope it dries nicely for you!!

Wear a shower cap - DON'T GET IT WET!!!!!! And you don't need the special shampoo either That is for "Brazillian Straightening"

Re: JHS Hair Club IB review
So sorry you had a bad experience! Hopefully after you wash it will be what you wanted.
Where did you get the organic sulfate free shampoo? I have BHS and need to use that type of shampoo. Like Julz said you don't. And that is crazy they never told you not to put it up, wet it, etc. What if you were not on LIF?

Just got back to NY and eagerly went to find your review - sorry it was not a great experience for you!!! I hope it comes out totally straight and trouble free! Was going to make an appt there for this Monday - don't know if I should try there or stick with Top Point now...

Re: JHS Hair Club IB review
I couldn't take the GREASE anymore and just showered and washed my hair (I was sweating like crazy today - flood in the basement, lots of walking up * down the stairs in the heat and dankness!!).
Anyway, so far, *I think*, so good. It's definitely straight but my hair takes FOREVER to dry and this thunderstorm isn't helping.
I did buy BioSilk and rubbed it into my ends!
If I look decent, maybe I'll take pics!

Re: JHS Hair Club IB review
So, final word for now, I think if my hair was longer and I could cut an inch off the ends, I'd be pretty happy.
But since doing that now would make me have SHORT hair again, I'll wait a bit and have it look kinda blah.

you should go 3 days without washing it, putting it back, behind your ears...or anything.

Re: JHS Hair Club IB review
I got the JHS treatment yesterday & I have to say that I am very unhappy!!! First of all I was burned in two places, one on my neck & the other behind my ear with the chemicals. NOT once did anyone from this salon say "I'M SORRY", not once! I was only told "don't worry", "you're OK", "you are having an allergic reaction" (if this was the case, then why didn't I have these burns all over my head!), "when you get home put ice water on it"... I guess when you aren't the one in who is burned & in pain it's easy to brush it off. I was also asked them prior to making my appointment if it was an issue that I colored my own hair & the answer I rec'd was no. Well apparently it was. I was also told that the JHS would cost $130 & when I got there they told me $150, which they then brought down to $140. Then much to my surprise I was told I had very dry, damaged hair!! NOT AT ALL & they tried selling me a $30 glaze type of thing to add into the JHS. I didn't take it & good thing every single person that came into the salon for either the JHS or BKT were told the same exact thing as me. We all had such damaged dry hair. It was a sales pitch! Then when I went to pay I was told if I don't pay cash - if I used my debit or credit card that I would be charged 4% more. Nowhere in the salon is this listed! I also told them that I wanted my hair to have some lift so i wanted them to start the straightening below my roots...but they were not happy to do this. The very last thing the lady did when I was finished was put some type of "goop" in my hair that made the ends wet & YOU CAN'T WET YOUR HAIR FOR 2 DAYS!!! Needless to say some of my ends crimped!!!! I do not recommend this salon nor will I ever go back. In fact I see that there is a 100% money back guarantee & since I am not happy I would like my money back!
