Jiffy Lube or Pep Boys? (With poll)
Just getting a simple oil change...which do you recommend?
ETA: For those that say either, can you please tell me why and which place you recommend instead? Thanks!

I don't like Jiffy Lube because they always try and sell you things. my dad brought his BRAND new car there after 3K miles for an oil change and they told him he needed an air filter

Also, a question. I know that at Jiffy Lube you don't need an appointment...what about Pep Boys?

Actually air filters do need to be replaced pretty frequently... not sure that 3k is the normal threshold though.
I honestly, do not trust either place... you can never really be sure of the quality of oil they "say" they use.

jiffy lube- ive had some bad experiences- its a bunch of inexperienced kids- they are all sooo unprofessional

DH always brings his car to Jiffy Lube and is always talked into buying something extra. I always thought it was interesting how that happened.

I said neither. I always go to my dealership. I get lifetime free oil changes. Even if I didn't I would still go there...

I'd go to the dealership. Pretty much same cost $20-30.
Also air filters do get changed constantly.

DH always brings his car to Jiffy Lube and is always talked into buying something extra. I always thought it was interesting how that happened.
I voted for Pep Boys because they replaced my battery and alternator (on a Sunday) and the overall experince I had was good. but I take my car to my mechanic 99% of the time, and always for an oil change.

I just had mine done at Jiffy Lube and they didn't try to sell me anything. It was quick and easy.

I have heard some shady stories about Jiffy Lubes. I used to take my car to an Avis Lube, now I generally just take it to the regular mechanic. He doesn't charge much more and it includes a car wash.

I used to go to Avis Lube and they did a good job but now I just go to my mechanic. He charges the same amount.

I always go to Firestone...They are always really nice to me there, and when I had something I thought was seriously wrong it wound up being a $10 fix; they didn't try to lie and make more $$$ on it.

i agree on the jiffy lube - half the time its done so quick, you have to wonder if they actually did anything.
do you have a local mechanic? bring it to him it would be cheaper or at least the same price as jiffy lube

I do, but the problem is, I'm getting DH's car taken care of for his b-day. The oil change is a part of everything I'm getting done. DH's birthday is this upcoming Sunday and my regular mechanic isn't open on Sundays. Most aren't, unfortunately.
