Job interview questions (Need quick help)
I have an interview shortly and I was wondering what do I say to them why I want a different job? The job I do now is very similar to what I'm interviewing for so I can't say that I want something different. Also, what's a good question for the end of the interview when they ask you if you have any questions for them?
Thanks!

Re: Job interview questions (Need quick help)
No room to advance?
As for questions to ask them, I usually ask about work hours, dress code, holidays and benefits.
HTH!
Good luck!

Re: Job interview questions (Need quick help)
What do you do when they tell you all the answers to your questions when they are telling you about the company? Scott

Re: Job interview questions (Need quick help)
You can ask about the corporate culture, structure, typical day on the job.

Re: Job interview questions (Need quick help)
I always ask about room for advancement, what they like most about the company, what they like least about the company, what a typical day is like, ability to get involved in other projects, etc...
As for why you are leaving - can you use location as an excuse?

Thanks!
No I can't use location. It's only about 5 minutes further away.

Re: Job interview questions (Need quick help)
Well, what IS the reason why you are looking for another job? Maybe we can tweak the real reason...

Re: Job interview questions (Need quick help)
Lack of opportunity for advancement is a good one.
Find out things about the company itself - stock price (yahoo stock message boards are good for this), competitors, recent acquisitions, etc. See if there are any press releases on their company website and ask them something about some recent company news. It shows you did your homework and are interested in the company as a whole.
Ask where they see your position or department going in the next year, 5 years, any plans to hire additional staff.
Benefits are always good to ask about too - how long is the wait for health insurance, etc. But it's been my experience that sometimes managers don't know these answers and leave it up to the HR department if there is one.
