job related question
if you start a new job and then go out on maternity say 10-12 months after starting, do you think you'd get your full short term disability? Like full salary, or whatever they offer?

Re: job related question
Not sure I know that at the company that I am currently working for (and leaving in 2 weeks) you have to be here a year to get full maternity benefits & not just FLMA.
But the way I see it, I can continue to TTC, cuz if I get PG by the 3rd month or later then I am covered.

Re: job related question
Isn't everyone entitled to FMLA, as long as there are a certain amount of employees? It's not paid, but I still think it's a law that you are entitled to it. As for maternity leave and whether or not they pay you a percentage of your salary, I believe each company has their own policies on that.

FMLA applies to companies with at least 50 employees.

Re: job related question
I am out of work on the FMLA not because i am having a baby but for surgery. When I completed the paperwork it says leave, for pregnancies or medical.
It really depends on your companies policy, my company claims to be under 50 people but they follow it. You do have to be with the company for 12 months. The short term disabilty and how your company handles it usually is given in your employee handbook. Just double check all your paperwork. not sure what you do but just remember that its 12 weeks and you get your job or an equivalent.

Re: job related question
FMLA only ensures you get the same or an equivalent job for your leave of absence (FMLA doesn't require your company to pay you). You need to be at a job You are eligible if you: -Have been employed by your company for at least 12 months and -Have completed at least 1,250 hours of service (based on a 35-hour work week) during the 12 months before the leave of absence begins and -Work at a site where 50 or more staff members are employed within a 75-mile radius. your company , at its discretion, may approve family and medical leave requests for employees working at offices with fewer than 50 staff members within a 75-mile radius.
Your pay would be determined by your company's short term disability . For example, our company if you've been here in excess of 1 to 2 years, you would get paid 100% for 30 days and 50% pay for days 31-90 days
