Job Seekers: Subbing length
How long do you really plan on subbing for? When is it time to say enough is enough already? I mean there comes a point when sub money just doesn't cut it. What is your point? And how long have you been subbing for?

Re: Job Seekers: Subbing length
to answer my own question I have been subbing for the most part since Spring 05 minus the year I was in florida for teaching.
I can't keep subbing till I get a LI job. I think if I don't have a job in sept (either somewhere in the city I am happy with or on the island) I am going back to business/accounting or getting a degree in something else.
its been rough subbing this year financially. We can't keep living off of a "possible" day of working.

Re: Job Seekers: Subbing length
I know what you mean. The past few months I have been working 5 days a week but I don't anticipate that happening the entire school year. I was a December 06 graduate so I don't know how much teachers really take off in those first few months
At this point I am planning on subbing another year which will be a year and a half and I don't know what I will do after that if no job opportunities pop up by Sept 08.

Re: Job Seekers: Subbing length
I graduated with my Masters in December 2000, I subbed from Jan-June then I got a perm. sub position for 2001-2002 and stayed in the position (while still sending out my resume elsewhere) for 2002-2003 and when summer 2003 rolled around and I still didn't have a job I moved to VA and got a job for that fall, and I have been teaching since....2 and 1/2 years subbing was way to long for me, I love where I am but if I could get a job on LI I would be back on LI in a heartbeat because I miss my family and friends terribly....

I don't want to do it, but I have to.
I can't live like this anymore.
