Joe's Crab Shack in riverhead got a bad rap but...
It was well deserved. We went yesterday and I'm not sure what happened. It's one of our favorite places in Florida. This was sooo not good. Shrimp were tiny like krill. The manager had to make sauce for our seafood pasta bc it came out plain like a baby would eat. We ordered some type of s'mores dessert bc my dd is a fan of her desserts. They took a chocolate bar, choc sauce and threw some burnt marshmallows on top. Strange experience since generally we love the place. Not the one out here at all. I keep hearing this over and over though.

Joe's Crab Shack in riverhead got a bad rap but...
We went a couple of months ago and I loved it lol. I had lobster and crab legs that were delicious. My SM had the same thing but had hers with Old Bay and she said it was too salty/too seasoned.

I agree with ElizaRags, we went there the weekend of V-day when it snowed and the food was delicious and the service was impeccable. Sorry you had a bad experience!

We went to the one in Oceanside a few months ago. Slooooooow service and my food came out cold. It took 25 minutes for them to bring my kids dinner. It was piping hot so we know it was just cooked. When my meal came out cold, I lost it. They were nice and got me a new meal, crab legs that were delicious. They comped my meal but we would never go back. And we weren't the only ones. There were several other families complaining.

generally I get the buckets like you said but it was lunchtime so I didn't want to overindulge. Next time for sure I will get what I know. Btw...their drinks are incredible if you haven't had but again it was like 12 pm so I didn't get that either..lol. I've heard some pretty bad complaints though so I am going to try again since you both said it was ok. The s'mores thing did suck though. Try something else.

the service was fantastic for sure. Our waitress was really great. The food we had wasn't though. It was alot of careless mistakes in the food that could have been easily been made differently.

We have went 4 times now to the Riverhead one and all times it was horrid...The food is disgusting. Honestly living on Long Island save the money and go to a local fish restaurant.

I tend to agree with this.
It's like going to the Olive Garden for Italian food.
I could see if you lived in a part of the country where there were no authentic Italian restaurants, but in NY? Come on.
Same with this.
I tend to hate chain restaurants though

We went to that location too and as we were paying the pretty high bill, we were discussing what to eat later. It just wasn't filling or very good either.

I've heard from a few people it wasn't great. I've been wanting to try but not sure now if I should bother. If you want a good seafood place visit buoy one in westhampton. I've never been disappointed.

your right. I was stupid to think it would be as good as the one in Florida. I love seafood so we go to alot of restaurants on the southshore for seafood. I should have listened to the reports on it. Ya live and learn.

We went to the one in Riverhead back in October after pumpkin picking. We were with a big group, including 6 toddlers and children, and they were SO terribly slow. I think we waited for over an hour for our food. They gave us coupons for when we come back, which probably won't be happening.
