Multiple sources confirm exclusively to PerezHilton.com that John Mayer and Jessica Simpson have ended their relationship.
And John's fans are probably rejoicing!
The split happened very recently. "They officially called it quits this past weekend," a well placed source tells us. "They'd been having problems for a while now and just decided it'd be better to end things."
This news will come as a surprise to many, especially Jessica's dad - who just a few days ago was publicly praising Mayer in the press.
While Jessica is currently in Cannes - seemingly having a great time, John is wasting no time enjoying the single life either.
Mayer and his entourage hit up New York City club Stereo on Thursday night, and the rocker was having a really good time.
"He was f*cking DRUNK off his a$$ and was making out with and left the club with an ugly brunette that was not Jessica Simpson," a spywitness tells us.

Jessica Simpson and John Mayer have ended their romance – but perhaps not for good, a source close to Simpson tells PEOPLE.
"They have broken up," says the source. "But they have broken up and gotten back together at least ten times before."
According to the source, the pair are in constant contact – even as Simpson promotes her new film Major Movie Star at the Cannes Film Festival in France. "They talk to each other at least six times a day. I don't know if this breakup is permanent, but for right now they are broken up."
Another source who knows the couple confirms to PEOPLE that pair have split. "She's kind and sweet and he's a terrific guy, but it's safe to say it has run its course."
Reps for Simpson and Mayer refused to comment on their clients' personal lives.
Simpson and Mayer have been gradually more and more open about their relationship after months of playing coy. Asked about Simpson in February, Mayer told Time Out New York, "I'm having the best time of my life, so if the names don't make sense to people, that's so small to me."
Soon after, though, the pair stepped out in a big way, taking a joint vacation to Italy in March. And when Mayer's Continuum tour hit Australia in April, Simpson was frequently by his side, spending down time with her beau on Byron Beach.
While Down Under, the two were prone to public displays of affection. Said a fellow passenger flying in business class with the couple from Sydney to Perth: "They were snuggling together."
And Mayer has earned praise from Simpson's family. Recently, Joe Simpson told PEOPLE, "If Jessica is in love, I love the things she is in love with." And he added: "I want her to be happy."

i still think the whole thing was a publicity stunt put together by their publicists to make jessica not look so pathetic (since nick moved on so quickly after the divorce) and to help john move into the spotlight more.
