Re: John & Kate plus 8
They were conceived through IVF.
She had a few failed rounds of IVF. When that happens docs, depending upon the issue, can put more eggs back in the hopes of increasing the chances of implantation. She chose not to "selectively reduce" (that is the medical term used) when she found she was pg with six. Most docs will urge women to reduce to triplets or twins as the risks grow exponentially when you increase the amount of multiples.
And, like all children conceived through IVF, including mine, I assure you they are natural as spontaneously conceived multiples.
ETA: There are a set of fraternal twins and a set of sextuplets. I believe they are all fraternal.

The twins were conceived through IUI, though weren't they? I remember watching the first show before it was a series and they said IUI for the twins.

Yeah I was thinking it was IUI because I remember they said she was on fertility meds. I also didn't think they would put back 6 embryos

We watched it. I believe they used IVF to get pregnant with both the twin girls and the sixtuplets.
