Jon and Kate plus 8 - last nite epi--spoliers
I am a huge fan of this show. I have seen every epi over 10 times and look up family info, spoilers you name it..
I think the kids are adorable and overall I love Jon and Kate BUT last nite I was so pi$$ed at jon and kate that they didnt let the Boys eat their cupcakes..
It was supposed to be a birthday cupcake and bc they didnt finish there dinner they couldnt have it?? They were so sad,and did u see there faces watching all the lil girls eat theres?
I am not a parent and I know rules must be in place---but come on, one time would it have really been that big of a deal?
AND kate needs to get over her messyness issues..they r little kids--put a dam tshirt over there outfit so it can get messy and MOVE ON!!!...even jon last nite agreed that they couldnt have their cupcakes, i was very mad at him..

I thought that was horrible too, if you aren't going to let them have their cupcake, don't make them sit there an watch.

Actually this is one time where I really agreed with Kate. The children know the rules and they should not be bent just because it was a special occasion. She said that they had been having trouble getting the boys to eat dinner, so giving in this time would tell them it's OK to not eat your dinner on special days. Kids need consistency. I don't think they should have had to stay at the table while the girls ate.
And I totally agree that Kate needs to get over the messiness issue, yes I understand it would take all day to handle the laundry, so have clothes that are meant to get dirty! Throw a giant t-shirt over the church clothes - it would have taken 2 seconds!

I don't know--I agree that kids need rules & consistancy, but I also saw the episode where they went out to have ice cream for dinner as a once a year treat.
I think an exception could be made, because it was their birthday. I think it is a distinct enough event, that they could emphasize that it was a treat, and then go back to the regular rule for everyday.
ETA-I totally agree about the messiness though. I awlays wonder why they don't just wear smocks. I used to wear an old button down backwards for art projects. Even when she brought aprons for them, they were all cute & color coordinated & personalized--and they looked new.
I'm also surprised they don't provide them at least at the ceramics place, and maybe the bakery.

I agree! Birthdays are special days and IMO rules don't apply! It's their day to enjoy and if that means not having dinner and only a cupcake, than so be it. You have 364 days a year to enforce rules.
That poor boy with the glasses- did you see his face when he realized he wasn't getting his cupcake

I felt bad for the boys too. She's really annoying with the germs and the dirt sometimes.....she just makes sooo much more work for herself being that way !

Re: Jon and Kate plus 8 - last nite epi--spoliers
I understand how people feel about it being a special occasion, but since this is an on going issue with the boys I would not have changed the rules - I would have given them more warning or a second chance, they do know the rules, but 4 year olds also have to be reminded in the moment; Aiden did seem very suprised that he wasn't going to get his cupcake.
We also wore the backwards button-up shirts as smocks when we were kids - picking out one of Dad's old shirts to use was half the fun of art projects!

i didnt watch the episode but i have it taped so i will watch it tonight. cant wait!
i dont know, tough call... i guess they could have let it slide for their birthday. i mean that sounds a bit harsh but i guess they have to be that way. for the most part i think their kids are very well behaved and have excellent manners, so by all means, they are doing something right

They actually said it wasn't really their birthday - just an extra treat around that time. They already had a "family day" on the actual birthday.
I think it is wonderful how they always stick to the rules, I hope that when I am a parent that I can do the same!

I agree with everything you said. I did feel bad that they couldnt eat it but what I like about her is that she is consistent.

Re: Jon and Kate plus 8 - last nite epi--spoliers
in the grand scheme of things, i dont think letting them eat a cupcake would have reversed 4 yrs of rules they had in place...sometimes rules are made to be broken :)

Re: Jon and Kate plus 8 - last nite epi--spoliers
Ugh, there were so many things I was like on. The bakery opened just for them and she was such a bee-yotch the entire time. I'd be a little more grateful and happy if I were her - they got an afternoon of entertainment and several cakes out of it!
Kate mentioning the edible food coloring and that's not what they have.. it's not like they eat it every day!
Kate throwing a tizzy about them getting messy. Let them have fun, they had aprons on! With 8 kids, I wouldn't think you'd expect to have all of them looking perfect 24/7.
I do agree with her not letting them have their cupcakes until they had dinner. At first, I thought they had to clean their plates, which I do not agree with, but they just had to eat some of it and the boys still refused.
