Jones Beach Lights?
Has anyone been there this year? Do they run it during the week and is it worth while?

Re: Jones Beach Lights?
I went over the weekend. While it was nice, I don't think it was worth $17. Don't get me wrong, I am glad I went since I've never been there before. However, $17 was a litte too much $$ to charge IMO. They do have Santa there and you can take your picture with him.

I have been there in the past and I would say it is worth it. Not that its the most wonderful lights you will ever see but I thought it was fun and especially sinc eyou would be doing it for Ava...I say absolutely go! At the end they take pics with santa outside. If you dont like it dont go again but check it out its not terrible. Its opened until January 1st I believe.

Re: Jones Beach Lights?
We go every year and absolutely love it. This year, we're actually going to go in the days after Christmas as opposed to going before.
I think it's well worth the money, especially given how many people you can get in the privacy of your own car/suv/minivan. I'd say it beats a movie for that price.
Belmont had it for 1 year and dropped it. I don't know if the Bronx Zoo still has it. The Garden State Arts Center has it, but doesn't change it at all (I'm told). But, Jones Beach has new wrinkles each and every year.
I'd advise taking the Wantagh in and Meadowbrook out, btw.

Re: Jones Beach Lights?
If you have children, it is very worth it in my opinion-- I know it is $17 per car but if you have 4 people in the car it is only $4 per person... Think of it that way...
Jacob loved it when we took him...

Re: Jones Beach Lights?
I agree that it wasnt AMAZING but the expressions and words out of their mouths were so worth it, and luckily I had camera and video running..
and then we had an even more memorable moment right by the HAPPY HOLIDAYS lights (as we were driving along) John Anthony had to go potty...couldnt hold it any more, really had to go, its gonna come out daddy... so I had to spill out the rest of my dunkin donuts hazelnut coffee.... daddy was so proud of his boy...
Luckily it was only pee so it was quite memorable for us this year.
not to mention how excited JA was that we let him loose of his seat belt and his cousins were in the car behind us..

Re: Jones Beach Lights?
We go every year late on Christmas Eve on our way home from Oceanside. I used to love going, but I'm really disappointed to see that they are set up in the parking lot of the Ampitheater instead of the beach area as before.
You can see everything from Ocean Parkway now and I think that loses something, so we may not go this year
