jones beach parking fee
Does anyone know, what time can you park on jones beach without having to pay a parking fee. Are there certain lots we can go to and walk?
After work around 6-7pm it would be nice to just go to the beach to walk around or let our son play in the sand or get his feet wet.
Its just its such a high fee, it feels like such a waste for the 1 or 2 hrs we would be there.
Any suggestions. We are right near the wantagh pkwy about 10 min from the toll booths at jones beach.

i think that you need a toll through 5:00PM, but, i have an empire pass, so i don't pay much attention to that anymore. i am goinf off of memory here...

hmm...I'm not exactly sure either (we also have an Empire Pass) but I can tell you that we go after work a lot and there is never anyone in the toll booths when we get there..I think the earliest we go is 6.

during the week i think you have to pay from 8am to 4pm, and on weekends it might be 5 or 6pm.

it's definitely free by 6. I've been doing the NYS parks summer series on Monday nights and I have gotten there before 6 and never charged.
good to know that it is at 4!

After 6pm on weekends
After 4pm on weekdays
