Joseph's ear infection...
has turned into a terrible cold...it's his first. His nose is all stuffy, he keeps tugging at his ears and his face keeps getting all red and splotchy but he has no fever. The dr's office is no help, they say I could bring him in but it's most likely teething
Besides a humidifier, what can I do to clear his nose so he can sleep better? It's so stuffy he can't keep the paci in and that pi$$es him off even more

Re: Joseph's ear infection...
If you have a nose aspirator, put some saline drops into one nostil at a time and then use the aspirator to suction it back out. You can do this a few time a day; really helps.
Also, there is an over the counter med you can buy at CVS or any drug store. It is called "Pedia Care" Infant drops Cough & Decongestant. Use 1/2 a dropper every 6 hours as needed.

Re: Joseph's ear infection...
saline drops and an aspirator to try to clear it out.
Also if he'll allow it, try putting a small pillow or rolled up towel under his crib mattress to elevate his head for drainage. My son slept like this for many months!

Re: Joseph's ear infection...
You can have him sleep on an angle. When my Joseph had an ear infection (and severe ear pain), the doctor on call told me to try Motrin & a warm washcloth right behind his ear. Also you can rub gently from right behind his ear lobe downward to try to get the fluid moving.

Re: Joseph's ear infection...
Awwwww... poor Joseph! If I were you, just in case, I would still bring him to the doc - you don't want this developing into anything worse. In the meantime, the NUMEROUS times Alex has had a cold, we used a steam vaporizer, elevated her crib by putting a rolled towel underneath the mattress and used the saline drops and the little suction thing on her nose (she hated it!). Be careful though, too much of the saline drops actually aggravates the stuffiness... in the end I just stopped using them and waited it out. If the stuffiness gets really bad, put the shower on the hottest it will go and steam up the bathroom. If you sit in there with Joseph for 15 minutes or so, it will loosen up the mucous.
