Jumping dog and pregnancy
DH and I have a 55 pound dog. He is very energetic as he is still a puppy. We are working on the jumping "issue", which has gotten much better and I am VERY careful about him jumping on me. But, sometimes when I am laying on the bed and he runs up onto the bed and steps on my belly. It has only happened once or twice, but each time has made me very nervous. I know there is a lot of cushion and protection in there, but is it something to really worry about? I, of course, do everything I can do protect my belly (laying a pillow on my belly, laying on my side and protecting myself) but he has gotten me these 2 times.

Re: Jumping dog and pregnancy
We worried about the same thing - but our birthing instructor said that our baby is very well-protected. Not that we should encourage the dog to jump on us, but that if something happened to me and I fell flat on my stomach that chances are my baby would be fine.
Our dog is about 65lbs and tends to jump on people or "towards" people when he gets excited, but as soon as I got PG he stopped jumping on me. It is hard to explain, but instead he jumps in front of me - with a facial expression that seems to say, "I want to jump on you but I know I really can't because you're having a baby and I shouldnt' jump on a baby."

So funny!!! Yogi does the same thing. It's like he knows that there is a baby in there! I think he has a sense that something is up because when I sleep, he likes to lay next to my belly and put his head across me.
