Just booked a flight for next week! EEK - tell me everything about flying with a bottle fed infant!
I've been to the States from London with DS twice now - but he's been EBF. I've just started giving him formula, although I'm still doing some feedings. I always have BFing as a back up but would like to take a few bottles with me on the flight. Do I just bring the powder and ask the flight attendants for water? DS won't drink his bottle warm, so do I ask for boiled water way before I'll need to feed him so it has time to cool down?
Also, what do you do when your baby doesn't have his own seat but is on solids? It's an 8 hour flight and technically he should be eating at least one meal on it. But he's not great with solids at the moment and I'm wondering if I should just skip it and give him some extra milk (he's 7.5 months, so not dependent on solids for nutrition at this point).
Thanks very much!

Bring the powder and ask for the water. I brought the water already heated and they made me dump it I went to the gift shop (after security) and asked for Poland Spring water not from the fridge.
As for foods, I agree and I would go with the extra formula just to get you through the flight

They have bottled water on planes so I would think that they would have bottles that are not chilled. Bring the powder and aske for a bottled that is not chilled OR bring the a few RTF bottles they sell at Target. I think they are 6 or 8 ounces and you can just transfer them into your bottle or pop a Gerber nipple on if he is using regular neck bottles not Avent, etc. They are more permissive with formula as long as you actually have a baby with you!

what about the travel ready to feed bottles? that may be the easiest way to go.

I don't have a suggestion for the formula, but for the solid foods you might want to get a boon squirt spoon. You put the baby food into the spoon and squirt it out onto the spoon. It looks like this.

I brought on milk for my toddler through security. They have some sort of machine that tests it to make sure its really milk. they use gloves etc when testing to make sure it stays clean.
Last year we traveled with our 9 month old and we brought the powder in the bottles. I bought water at a bagel shop and asked them to heat it up for me (one of the workers was a mom and put the bottle of water in some hot tea water for me...) I would imagine you could ask the flight attendants to do the same thing - just tell them when you first get on the plane that you are going to request it so they can plan...
I would skip the solids for the flight...
Good luck!!!

Buy everything you need at Boots when you get through the gate. Check to see if there is one at Heathrow. Manchester Airport has a Boots in the terminal and they sell everything you need. Buy the RTF once you get through. Its easy!
