Just curious about losing baby weight for moms of two or more

Hi Ladies!

Just curious! Baby #2 is coming in April and I was just wondering if you had an easier or harder time losing the baby weight the second time around?

I think I am gaining less with this pregnancy but I still have 3.5 months to go! Chat Icon

I gained about 8-10 lbs. less with my 2nd pregnancy. That said, I held onto my "baby belly" quite a bit longer the 2nd time--so much so that people would congratulate me on my "pregnancy." Chat Icon

However, after DD#1 even though I went back to my pre-pregnancy weight more or less, I wasn't really trying my hardest since I knew I would be pregnant again relatively quickly. After this pregnancy, I was anxious to get back into shape because of those comments, and also because if/when I do become pregnant with a 3rd, it won't be for a while...so I couldn't use that as an excuse. So, I joined WW (for the 400th time! Chat Icon ) 4 mos. after Abby was born and I am currently 5 lbs. under my pre-pregnancy, pre-pregnancy weight! Chat Icon

ETA...I don't think I really answered your question Chat Icon So, I wouldn't say it was harder OR easier, it's just that I was a lot more motivated after the 2nd.

hard for me to say since I only gained 22 lbs with DD and 11 or 12 lbs with DS. I *believe* I am around Pre-Pg weight of DD or just under it, but I don't look the same.

Thanks for your answers ladies! Chat Icon

I gained about 38lbs with DS- I lost it all but 2 or 3 lbs by 8 months pp when I got preggers again.

This pregnancy I feel like I am gaining less and I hope to gain no more than 30lbs....I was hoping it would then be easier to lose it....Chat Icon oh well!

my problem is I never got rid of the weight from baby # 1...so I pilled weight on top of that.

This time around I am more motivated to lose weight.

I was so tired and frustrated with my first (he had colic) that I would eat and make excuses for myself.

I had a much easier time losing weight while breastfeeding. When Maddie was born, I weighed less than when I got pregnant with Joseph.

However, once I stopped nursing & continued to eat like I was, I packed it on very quickly. Never, never eat from your toddler's plate. It's easy to grab that last bit toddler food before you clear off the plate & it doesn't help you at all.

Maddie is 4 & it's only this year that I decided I had enough of being an out-of-shape mom.

I gained ALOT less this time around because I was constantly running, swimming or at gymnastics with my 2 year old. My weight is dropping alot faster this time because I'm not breastfeeding. Last time I held on to the weight while breastfeeding.

I'm down to a weight I'm very happy at 3.5 weeks post partum but my belly is alot flabber since she stretched me way out foward and my hips fit into jeans that took me about 5 months post partum to fit into after my son so I'm atleast happier with that.

I gained the same about with both pregnancys but I found it alot easier to lose the weight with baby #2. I actually weigh 11 pounds less then when I got pregnant with Ella. I think I am just running around more with 2 kids and don't have the time to munch of junk food.

I gained a lot less with #2 since I was constantly chasing a toddler around. I was also back in my jeans less than a month post partum with #2. The weight just disappeared after #2.

I had an easy time losing weight. I was breastfeeding, so I'm sure that helped.

Re: Just curious about losing baby weight for moms of two or more

I was the exact weight when I delivered #2 as I did with #1. I gained 50 with #1 and 40 with #2(didn't lose all the weight when i got pg again)

My weight came off the same way, BF'ing did nothing for me with my oldest, the weight came off the same way with #2 who was formula fed.

At 5.5 months PP i'm 10lbs from where i want to be and 6 lbs from pre-pg #1 weight. My weight has been stagnant for about a month, but i think that has to do with the holidays and the winter. My 1st was a may baby so i had more nice weather to exercise and walk outside. The belly/waist isn't going down as fast though as with #1.

I have to say having 2 under 2, they keep you busy, i hardly sit all day long. So that helps too.

After having my second, I lost the weight (and then some) much faster and easier than after number 1.

Having said that though, I had our 3rd baby 3 months ago, and this time has been a real struggle.

Re: Just curious about losing baby weight for moms of two or more

Thanks so much ladies!

I think the reason I am gaining less with this pregnancy is because I am carrying and chasing after an active one year old.

I plan on breastfeeding with #2 again- so, hopefully that will help!

You have given me hope! Chat Icon Chat Icon
