just found out my grandpa died

tomorrow would have been 8 months since he started to feel sick, he was diagnosed with cancer, he was on chemo, fighting, but 2 weeks ago we found out the cancer spread to his brain. just last wednesday DH & I were in the hospital talking to him, he still spoke to us even though he didnt really know who we were. THursday he got out. Sunday he stopped eating and drinking. Yesterday he fell asleep and didnt even squeeze your hand when you squeezed his. My mom just called me and told me.
i dont think it hit me yet
we went to church yesterday bc my grandma ordered a mass in his name, i prayed for God to take him peacefully so hés not struggling. then the whole family went by my grandma's, im glad i went and got a chance to hold his hand and kiss him goodbye.
I cant believe this, this is the first person in my family to pass away. I feel so bad, escp for my father.
how do you deal? what do i do to comfort my father? grandmother?
he would have been 76 this may, he worked upto the last day he got sick, working on construction, he couldnt sit still.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

It looks like God answered your prayers and your Grandpa won't have to suffer anymore. Take refuge knowing that he's in a better place and that one day you'll all be together again.

As for your dad and Grandma, just be together and enjoy your family. The best thing that you can do is remember all the happy memories and teach your daughter all about her great-grandpa that will be watching over her.

It is hard especially in the beginning. I remember feeling totally numb and in shock when both of my grandparents died.
Comfort your grandma and your Dad but look for comfort in others too. Don't feel that you need put up a good front. If you need to, cry your eyes out. Don't hold things in.

I did my major/sobbing crying at home with my DH. I cried and screamed and said how unfair life was.

My grandparents raised me and losing my Papa was the worst thing that ever happened to me. It does get easier (at least for me it did). My grandma was so strong that it made me feel better. Like if she seemd ok than Ill be ok.

Im so sorry for your loss. Its such a difficult thing to go through.

Everyone grieves differently, and everyone copes differently. Look forward to the blessings comming your way. It will also help the family too.

My grandmother was bedridden after a horrible stroke for many years. She was also a Holocaust survivor. Seeing her sick was just awful, and we grieved for her when she died, but we knew she was with her family and that helped us a lot.
