Just got dropped from State Farm after sandy
We are a family affected by Sandy and just got a letter from State Farm dropping our homeowner's policy. Their reasoning is the damage to our home from Sandy. They gave us less than a month to find new insurance. Real nice...we just moved home three weeks ago.

same happened to my cousin...and they didn't even have damage...basically everyone south of sunrise is being dropped from what i hear

Interesting.
We have SF and were affected by Sandy.
My agent was just here a few weeks ago because he wrote us a policy for flood insurance.
It took him from right after Sandy till now to get to it because they are "that behind". I wonder if this has something to do with it.

Just got dropped from State Farm after sandy
We got dropped from Allstate years ago, and we're 4 miles from the water and never had any claims.
I wouldn't be surprised if all the major companies pulled out of here.

are you sure that is why?
the company is doing cancellations but of home within a mile of water, coastal cancellations.
they were placed on hold due to SANDY.

I was dropped by State Farm recently due to being in an area for potential storm destruction. Yeah, they suck. Actually, it was a blessing in disguise. My new HO's premium is more than $1,000 less than what I was paying for the same coverage, deductible, etc. with SF. Actually, the windstorm deductible is a lot less than SF's.

my parents have state farm and live south of sunrise north of the train tracks and haven't been dropped. I live south of Sunrise north of the tracks as well and have nationwide and knock on wood - not dropped but neither of us ever put a claim in. I had some minor damage but refused to use the insurance for it.

We just got dropped by State Farm too. We are south of sunrise but had no damage and put in no claims. They don't give you much time......ins companies $uck!

I am sorry to hear about people being dropped. If you need some help obtaining insurance, please feel free to contact me. I have carriers that will write on the water, or close to it.

It was bound to happen...after Katrina a LOT of insurance companies stopped writing policies on LI just because they were afraid of a threat. SF came in and wrote all those policies.
Now, two storms later...storms that actually hit the area...they're doing what is necessary.

Just got dropped from State Farm after sandy
we actually got a renewal from state farm... but we are north of southern state....didn't notice much of a premium increase... We switched companies though to save some money because our auto was too much.

I got a letter from them earlier in the mail and was nervous after reading this thread (We are below Montauk).
It was a letter to re-finance our house with them.
What towns are you ladies in that are getting dropped if you don't mind sharing? Or FM even.

We have State Farm for homeowners and put in a Sandy claim. So far, we haven't heard anything from them about being dropped (we still have yet to get a check from them either), but will update this thread if I hear anything.
