just got laid off today- I have 10 years of AP/AR experience....
......if anyone knows of any openings. I've done Accts Payable & Receivable....and started out my career as an executive assistant, most recently I was a Project Administrator, handling accounting functions for a Project Management team at a large financial firm. Feel free to FM if you know of any openings. I'm going to take a breather for a few days and then start looking

I checked with my firm, but we don't seem to be hiring in that area right now. I am confident you will find something soon. I can't imagine that a company would NOT be impressed with you.

I drive, it doesn't have to be in the city.....the commute I'm leaving behind was an hour & 15 minutes each way (Jersey City!!)  so I'm definitely flexible!

either is fine with me. I live in Howard Beach, so considering its kind of the Nassau/Queens border, I'd prefer Nassau if I was going to consider LI.

thanks Kara!  I've received so many phone calls this morning and e-mails from colleagues expressing shock & condolences and also wondering how my dept. will go on without me (some have actually told me that I was "the only one who knew what I was doing" in my group!  .....I guess some feel the need to be candid with me since I no longer work there! it's great seeing the outpouring of support from them though!

I don't doubt any of that at all Helen! You will find something better for you and you will be a great asset to your new company. I hope you find what you are looking for soon! I will definitely keep my eyes and ears open!

Helen, Todd checked his company's internal job postings and didn't see anything. He has friends in the acctg office, though, and he is going to ask them, too. Sometimes the jobs aren't posted on the web site right away. I'll stay on the lookout and pass along anything if I hear it.

Do you have a degree in accounting? My job will be hiring an accounting manager. But I think you need a degree. They are very particular in who they hire.
