Just needed to talk about this
I know you all know this already, but after what I just saw I feel the need to say Please, Please be so very careful when deciding who you will and wont leave your children with. I was just doing some cleaning around the house and had the TV on in the background. Something came on the TV that sent me running to the bathroom to throw up. On one of the tabloid shows (I think inside Edition) there was a story with video about 2 bleep, bleeping, bleeps left to care for an 18 month old toddler In the video they were forcing the toddler to smoke marijuana. They were holding the pipe to her mouth, she was trying to squirm away and she was coughing on the smoke which invoked a giggle from someone on the video. Just thinking about this now makes me feel sick all over again. My DS is not far from the toddlers age and the thought of anyone doing that to him or any child for that matter makes me totally sick to my stomach. The story said the piece of **** in the video was the UNCLE of the toddler who was left in his charge. They mentioned nothing about the toddlers parents, but it just makes me think of all the things I have heard in my life about people who do horrible things to children. This thought puts a fear in me too great for words. How do we go about trusting anyone with the care of our children? I don't think there will ever come a day where I will trust anyone to be alone with my child. (Outside of my parents, brothers and in-laws)

That is HORRIBLE story!! So sad!! It really makes me mad how people can be soooo careless....How could anyone try and HURT a child.

Trusting your child to someone is so hard. I wonder EVERY DAY if I have my DS in the right place.....

I am thinking of going back to work around October , every time I call the day care to get some info for my DD or talk to someone about babysitting her I get nauseous bc I get so upset the thought of leaving her with someone else makes me so nervous, scared and sad.

I think that professional day cares are the LEAST of people's worries. This "caregiver" was a flipping RELATIVE.
Watching that video is horrifying.

That is sad.
Even sadder, when my baby was born he was in NICU for 2 days...well the nurses were telling me that they had a baby brought in there once (I forget the age, a few months old) because the PARENT was blowing cocaine in his/her face. Could you imagine?? I wanted to cry. Some people are SO sick and have no regard for human life.

People are sick! A-h*les like that should rot!
I could never have someone I don't know watch DD, yet another reason I'm a SAHM.
I've been watching kids for 13 years and never once did the thought ever cross my mind to harm one of them. I just don't understand what goes on in some people's heads!!!!
I feel honored when someone trusts me enough to watch their kids. I know how hard it is to leave your kids with someone. I know that I will take excellent care of them, but the parents can never be sure. I always make sure I take just as good care of the kids I watch as I take care of my own DD because I know that if I had to leave DD with someone I'd want them to love her as much as I do.
I really hate people. I can't believe what goes on in this world sometimes.

I remember that story I think they put it on you tube or something like that not sure if they went to jail. its so horrifying and it was family!

OMG...what in the world??? And here I am ticked off cuz my grandmother was watching the kids upstairs WHILE I WAS HOME and somehow DD STILL flipped over the footboard of her twin bed....

I think they said the guy got charged with providing drugs to a minor so basically he probably got probabtion or something. That too makes me violent.
If I sounded in anyway like I was putting down day care workers, believe me that was in no way my intention. I know there are plenty of good caring people out there taking care of our children......I personally chose day care for my DS because I had worked in Day Care for a long time and knew that even if there was someone who didn't have as much grace, kindness and patience as i'd like there were always others around to keep that person in check. The thought of a nanny alone, in my home was too scarey for me. Now I am lucky enough that I stay home with DS and work at night, but What really got me is that this guy was a family member so you never know. It could be the teenager next door that you have known their whole lives, who's parents are good people who raised their kid right.......with morals
