Just so much I want to say...
First off, nobody has to apologize for the hijack of my post. It is a public site so people are free to say what they want. I am honestly not surprised anyway.
That being said...
Children are not born with an opinion on anything. We all gain knowledge, perspective, and opinions by those who surround us. Our parents, our families, our friends, and yes, our teachers. My husband and myself work incredibly hard to make our children caring, accepting, kind, and respectful. What my son said this morning is absolutely a product of how he is being raised. That is what raising children is all about. We are very open with all of our children. If this were a different time, say Obama vs. McCain or even Bush vs. Gore, I would be able to say to my children that even though I do not agree Bush and McCain on politics, if they are our president we need to respect them. I will never expect them to respect anyone who makes fun of the disabled, threatens violence against BLM but tells his psycho supporter terrorists that he loves them, and caused our country to have more COVID deaths than any other nation. This isn't about a difference in political opinion. When two rational, educated people on either side of the spectrum debate in a healthy way, only good can come out of it. We do not allow Dr. Seuss books in our home. His works have been proven to discriminate against Jewish people, blacks, Asians, and women. A few years ago, one of my children's preschool teachers caught me at dismissal and innocently laughed that my daughter had never heard of The Cat in the Hat or Green Eggs and Ham. I explained why we do not celebrate him nor read his books. Since then, she has chosen other ways to celebrate "Read Across America" day in March. If she had chosen to continue to celebrate him, that would have been fine with me. The point is that we were respectful to each other, and because of that she actually learned something, just as I learn things from others. As far as bullying...while I am not condoning death wishes or anything else that was mentioned in my other thread, here's the thing. When someone comes onto any public forum and consistently denies science, flouts social gatherings in the middle of a pandemic, defends a racist, narcissistic madman, and constantly spews false facts presented by right wing journalism, people will eventually get tired of it. I could even let all that go if she were at least kind. She is passive aggressive and lacks empathy and understanding. She obsesses over some glitch from a poster that happened months ago and remembers every painstaking detail of some posters lives, which is weird. I am FAR from a perfect person, and make mistakes and mom failures daily. But I acknowledge that. Off my Off to pour some Sprite in champagne glasses and toast to Biden/Harris over Pad Thai!

Thank you and that was the point of my entire post.
Your child is young so expect them to disagree with you (A.LOT) especially when they become teenagers and might not make you happy with things they say or believe. We can only hope when they leave us they have the moral structure we have tried to install in them.
We don't always have to agree but the easiest thing on social media is to just scroll along and not curse them out and call them idiots because they bother you. That type of attitude usually ends in high school when you start maturing and know that everything is not always about you.
Sounds like your son has found something that he can celebrate to get Sprite when he normally doesn't have it, so I would say let him have it lol

Not that you need my parenting stamp of approval (or anyone else's for that matter), but it sounds like you're doing a great job.
This post makes me think of the quote (which I adore) "I will teach my babies to love your babies" as a show of unity defeating racism, as one example where parents are shaping their children to be more progressive than many older folks now.
