So I saw a commercial for a cheap shampoo company that the new line condition first THEN shampoo after. So I tried it with my shampoo from my salon. Holy hell, my hair has never looked better. Full with no frizz, felt great and looks amazing. Never will I do it the normal way again. I could have gone another day without washing it because it looked so good. Just thought I should share. Enjoy.

Is this the tresseme line? The commercial with Chrissy Tergan? I have the keratin treatment so I can't use it but it seems like such a good concept to condition first

Re: Just thought I would share, hair ladies

I used to do this years ago (way before they started marketing it that way)
It is great for fine hair that gets weighed down.

But now my hair is way too dry and damaged from years of chemical processing. I have tried it but the second I shampoo the conditioner out my hair feels like plastic and I need to do the conditioner again

I keep hearing about this but am skeptical it will work with my hair. I'm going to try it on a day that I'm not going to work or anywhere else.

So, you just used the regular shampoo you already had? Not one specifically made for this?

Yes it doens't have to be made for that.
that is just a gimmick.
the concept is to condition your hair and then wash away the residue and build up..
It works great if you have fine hair or hair that isn't overly dry or damaged.

My hair has been bleached, stripped, recolored it is far from virgin hair. This has been a game changer. I don't wash it daily to begin with. I could have gone three full days without washing it doing it this way.

I use the shampoo I buy at my salon that the owner makes. It's free of all crap and just overall great stuff.

I actually caved a few months ago and bought the tresemme because it was on sale at target. I used to use either Pureology volumizing shampoo or Frederic Fekkai.

I am a tresemme convert! My hair looks and feels amazing! I thought it was strange and that I would be washing the conditioner out, but my hair is so soft, full and manageable now.

Question about how you actually do this - after you put the conditioner in your hair, do you rinse it out like normal and then shampoo, or do you wash out the conditioner with the shampoo?

And if you normally used any product in your hair after washing (like a leave in conditioner or serum etc), do you still use the same thing?

I love Tresseme & that's what I usually use, but I thought it was so silly that they sell special products for this! I used to do conditioner first when my hair was thinner & oilier. I didn't rinse the conditioner out. I would just wash it out with the shampoo.

I keep forgetting to try it this way, I avoid conditioner because it makes my hair greasy.

Thats my issue. I will use a DEEP conditioner for like an hour under a plastic bag.
Then I shampoo it out and it feels like plastic again from the shampoo- so i need to use a normal conditioner on it.
Not to mention it's a rat's nest and I can't get a comb through it if I don't conditioner AFTER I shampoo.

i tried it the last 2 washes. i did find that my hair felt a lot less like hay after the shampoo...but i still had to use a drop of conditioner again after the shampoo. BUT...i did use a LOT less shampoo this way. my hair still gets oily as quick as it did before but my hair does feel softer. i think im gonna keep it this way. :)

I gave it a shot again too and the first thing I noticed when I got out of the shower was the unholy frizz. And I don't really have frizzy hair.
I ended up having to soak it with leave in conditioner just to get a comb through it. So that kind of defeats the purpose I think.
My kind of hair just needs some conditioner after the shampoo strips it I think.

Been doing this for years Chat Icon Also my 11 y/o with long fine hair and she loves it! I do however sometimes condition afterward though or use a leave in conditioner for extra needed moisture.

So I tried this method right after Thanksgiving and have used it since - washing my hair every other day.

First time I tried it, my hair was very soft and shiny, but almost too soft - had very little body - and that's never really been a problem for me.
Second time, used a little volumizing mousse afterwards and all was great. Was really loving this method - mostly because I absolutely HATE how long it takes to rinse conditioner out of my hair, so that issue was pretty much eliminated by washing it out with shampoo.

Unfortunately, after a couple of more washes, my hair became very dried out and it was very difficult to comb out after washing - so now it will be back to the "regular" way for me

I think it's something that's ok to do once in a while- like for a special occasion, but I don't think it's good for long term....because it can become very drying to your hair.
Unless you have super oily hair or very "virgin" hair

I love this method BUT I have very fine, oily hair that gets weighed down very easily by conditioner. Conditioning first has been a lifesaver for me.
