Just wanted to share...1st birthday letter to Mikayla

I decided to begin a tradition of writing DD a letter on each of her birthdays....I got the idea from someone on here

this is what I wrote for her 1st birthday letter




Dear Mikayla,
The time has come; your first birthday is here!!!! I cannot believe how fast you have grown and how much my life has changed in the past year. I can still remember so vividly the day daddy and I went to the hospital to have you. It was Monday, March 19, 2007 and we were to arrive at the hospital at 7pm. Nana, Pop-Pop and Aunt Kelliane came over to have a pizza dinner (mommy’s favorite) and to see us off. That 5 minute drive to the hospital seemed like an eternity. So many emotions were running through my head. I was excited, nervous and anxious. They checked me into room #4 and the induction process began. By the next morning, I was experiencing contractions and I knew you would be arriving shortly. When Dr. Mammano came into the room at about 1pm, she told us that you were experiencing some signs of distress and that we would need to do a c-section.

With that, I was wheeled into the operating room with daddy right behind me. Then, at 2:23 pm on Tuesday, March 20, 2007, you were born, weighing in at 9lb, 8oz and 20 ¾ inches long and our lives changed forever. I will never forget how I felt the moment that I first laid eyes on you. You were the most perfect baby I had ever seen and all I felt was this overwhelming love for you. I knew that you would change my life in ways I never thought possible. You would open my eyes up to the miracle of life and make me a mommy.

This past year has been so magical. You have brought so much joy into our lives and we are so thankful that god blessed us with you. You have an infectious smile and are such a happy, easy going baby (although a bit bratty and stubborn, like mommy). I have so many memories of this past year. From sleepless nights and midnight feedings to watching you grow into a little lady right before my eyes. I remember the first time you rolled over and the first time you reached up to me and called out to me “maaa, maaa”. I think about the nights that I rocked you to sleep and comforted you when you were sad, sick, or hurt. I remember how proud we all were of you when you began to crawl, cruise, do “so big” and try to walk. Bath time was always my favorite, watching you play with your bath toys and splash around, without a care in the world. I remember trying to get you to eat your peas and green beans. The look of disgust on your face was priceless. Peaches, mango and raisins are some of your favorite foods, but Cheerios, by far, are what you love the most. You get so excited when you see the Cheerios box and you love to share them with Sandy (she likes that too). You also love to feed yourself like a big girl. When I hear you say “hi” to me when I walk into the room or when daddy and I go into your room in the morning to get you ready for the day, that melts my heart.

I have so many wonderful memories of this past year; I cannot wait to see what next year brings.

Mommy loves you so much, unconditionally and I will always be here for you, whenever you need me. Happy 1st Birthday, my sweet angel

You've done...you have reduced me uncontrollable sobs and tears.

What a wonderful letter to Mikayla...so sweet. I can't believe that your little girl is almost one year.

Beautiful! I planned to do this for DD when the time comes too. I'm sure Mikayla will love to read this when she gets older!
