Just went to a special birthday party...
MY son's classmate just had a birthday party. SHe and her younger sister were both adopted from China. There were numerous other families that also adopted, at the party. I thought it was so touching and so powerful to see all these children, united under one roof, all playing and having such a wonderful time, all running into the arms of a mommy, daddy or grandparent, most of them with adopted siblings also, you can see the bond they had with their family members, and also with the other children... Some of them took the trip together to get their little girls, how special.. One mommy, her biological son is in his 30's, and she has adopted a girl from Russia, I heard so many wonderful stories.... and all of them smiled at me (with my big ol belly, I kinda felt bad/guilty... is that normal ?) but they each smiled at me with a glow and wished me well....
It was truly special to see. I admire each and every one of you for what you are doing. The smiles, giggles, and birthday-cake faces I saw today, left me with such a warm feeling....
God Bless all the wonderful people that adopt in this world

Re: Just went to a special birthday party...
What a nice post! I can't wait to be one of those adoptive mommies throwing parties for my children! It's great that this family had so many friends that had adopted, as well. I'm happy your child is being exposed to and becoming friends with children who have been internationally adopted. Do not feel guilty walking around with your big old belly. You're just growing your family in a different way! I think a lot of women feel that way. My one friend always apologizes when she send me pictures of her baby. It was one thing to feel that way when someone is undergoing infertility treatments, but once they've started the adoption process, for the most part that sadness that comes along with seeing a prego belly goes away. Actually, this post comes at a funny time because DH and I just got back from Home Depot and I saw a pregnant woman walking around and said to DH, "I feel guilty saying this at this point, but I still kind of feel jealous when I see pg bellies just because I just WANT to know what it feels like to be pg..." but for the most part, I don't feel that way anymore. Thanks for sharing such a love-filled, warm post. I can't wait for their to be tons of adoptive bday parties for the children of the women on this board!

Re: Just went to a special birthday party...
AWWW THanks Susan It was truly adorable to see these precious little "China Dolls" (is that ok to say ) and all these wonderful people surrounding them with hugs and kisses.
You know what, I was also thinking, they probably feel JUST as much if not MORE powerful emotions when they bring their babies home! Im sure its just as overwhelming, heartwarming, special and touching, and just as strong a bond. One mommy, she had a biological son (About 5yrs old) and a sweet little girl she adopted, well she couldnt leave her daughter's sight without her screaming for mommy, it was so cute!
and its wonderful that these agencies create one big family with all these special people who were put on this earth to be not only amazing mommies and daddies, but angels to these precious children The love for these children was just pouring out
A few of them were talking about "maybe another trip for the next one" AWWW
Thanks for letting me share

Yup, going to the airport or country to pick up your child is just like delivering your own, without the labor!
I'm already talking about the 2nd but each time I do, DH goes a little further into cardiac arrest.

Re: Just went to a special birthday party...
No need to feel guilty Anna. There are many people who adopted by "choice", meaning that infertilty did not lead them to adoption and many couples who after they adopted their child would have it no other way A new child in a family is always happy so of course they were smiling at you.
My friend who adopted from China is very close with the families that they traveled with. I think that is such a great relationship to continue. I am glad you had such a nice time at the party.
