Karate lessons - How many times a week?

Both my boys really want to take karate lessons. Unfortunately right now, we can't afford the 2 night a week package for both of them, nor do we actually have the time to go between Catechism and baseball. We might be able to swing for them to go for a 1 class a week program for the time being until we can afford the 2 nights a week package and when we have more time. We "should" be able to sign them up for that one probably sometime this summer. Anyway, is it ok for them to go only 1 time a week for a while and then go more later on or is it pointless? I know they won't advance as quickly as the other kids. They're 7 and 4.5 yrs old. Thanks!

I would wait til you can afford to send them 2x a week. In the beginning I think it is hard for only once a week.

The 4.5 yo is probably fine with 1x a week. At my school, until they start going to Kindergarten, they only go once a week.

After that, they really encourage the kids to go 2-3 times a week.

However, 1x a week is still 1 more than 0, so I still think it's a good idea to continue going with once a week for a while.

Have you asked if they offer a multi-child discount?
Many of the places in my area offer discounts that get greater depending on the amount of children you sign up. Its worth a shot!

I agree that 1x is better than no times if it is something that they are interested in. It gives them AND you just enough of a taste to decide if it is something you really want to commit to!

And I would also ask about the multi child discount!
