Sean "Diddy" Combs is defending his decision to turn Katie Lee Joel away from his White Party on Saturday for wearing cream instead of white.

The Piano Man’s wife arrived at the music mogul’s annual Labor Day bash, where guests are required to only wear white, but was stopped at the door by the fashion police because her dress was off-white.

Given the option to return home and change, the former Top Chef hostess simply decided to call it a night. A source tells Usmagazine.com that Joel was one of many who were denied entry because they had foolishly opted to wear an ecru hue.

“People who arrived in non-white or off-white clothes were given the option to change,” Diddy’s rep confirms. “Ms. Joel showed up in beige or cream and she opted to go home.”

Other guests who managed to make it down the white carpet included Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, Donna Karan, Lil' Kim, Star Jones, Ashley Olsen and Tommy Lee, who wore a fat silver chain dangling from his white short pants.

Diddy’s ex, Kim Porter, was also in attendance, showing off their 8-month-OLD twin daughters, D'Lila Star and Jessie James.

"This party is up there with the top three that I've thrown," Combs, 37, told Newsday. "It's a party that has legendary status. It's hard to throw a party that lives up to its legend."

Combs' White Party returned to East Hampton for the first time since 2003, after a stint in St. Tropez.

"This is the first house I bought when I came into success," he said. "This is the first party I threw. Our party was to give back to people and have all my friends from all walks of life get together."

According to Newsday, the party also featured fire eaters and a trapeze artist. Doug E. Fresh played DJ, but Combs eventually asked for the music to be turned down so the party could be "grown and sexy."
