Keeping the door closed while baby sleeps...
Is it a bad thing if we kept the door closed to the baby's room? We have a cat and this is the only way to keep him out of the nursery...

Re: Keeping the door closed while baby sleeps...
We keep the door closed also. Our little chihuahua wakes up in the middle of the night and gets confused, so he barges into her room and wakes her up, so we've kept the door closed. We have the monitor on in our room so I can always hear and see what's going on in there anyway.

Should we leave the window open a crack at least. Cuz it will be springtime...

We keep her door closed because we have a humidfier on in her room.
It depends on how cool the night is, you may not want to keep a window open and the door closed.

So is it ok to leave a window and door closed on a cool night?

We have a cat too - I was worried about closing the door but if you have a monitor I think it will be OK. They also sell the screens/tents that go over the crib to keep cats out. I registered for one at BRU, here is a pic of it:

That's cool that they have that tent. We actually a tent for the pack and play since that will in the living room where the cat is. But we don't want him in the baby's room at all.

Re: Keeping the door closed while baby sleeps...
Our door has always been closed. But sometimes because they are insane if it wasn't fully closed my Cat and Dog can open it up and then I just start hearing giggling and their is a licking fest going on between the slates. My Cat took about 5 months to come out of hiding once Jack was born. She thought the crib was neat but not once she saw that scary wiggly thing coming.

Re: Keeping the door closed while baby sleeps...
Dh and I are actually tossing around the idea of putting up a light weight screen door on the baby's room temporarilly. This way we can leave her door open but the cat cant get it.

"Stitch" was the runt so she is 3 but only weighs 7lbs and still thinks she is a kitten. She was all about the nursery until he got in it. Now that they are pals she tries to sneak in we always find her under the crib or outside his door. I think she knows he is warm and just wants to cuddleImage Attachment(s):

That picture is adorable by the way. Our Ralphie always wants to be with us when we are home. If we are in the living room he'll sit with us on the couch. If we hang out in the kitchen or the dinning room he'll sit in his tower.
I'm sure we'll let the cat near the baby. We want them to be best buddies and i'm sure we'll take pics of them together. I just don't want to do it right away cuz we have to see if the baby gets any allergic reactions to him.

Re: Keeping the door closed while baby sleeps...
Just wanted to let everyone know that it is actually SAFER for the door to be shut in the event of a fire...GOD FORBID. A closed door can save a child's life. With the door open the smoke can come in faster and the heat of the fire can actually come into the room much faster. 20/20 or Dateline had camera's and equipment inside a house and had it put on fire (by professionals) and the difference between the nursery with the closed door and open door was HUGE.
Molly's door is always shut.
