How do you keep the sunlight out of your LO's bedroom. DD seems to wake up as soon as the sun rises.

Do you recommend blackout curtains? do they make them in kids' colors/patterns?

We have a blackout shade. It does a pretty good job. I got it from Home Depot.

We have blackout shades from JCpenney, and then blackout curtains from Target on top of that.

They do a pretty good job, but not true black out.

I bought GREAT blackout and sound resistant curtains from Bed, Bath and Beyond. Mine has a a cute sports theme on dark blue curtains. They're ADVERTISED as sound and light proof. I don't remember the name, but they're in the store in the curtain section. They make them in different colors/designs. They're GREAT. My DS's room faces the sunrise and you would barely know the sun is even up sometimes!! Chat Icon

Here they are! Chat Icon

I use blackout shades from home depot cut to fit inside the window. I also have blackout curtain liners. She has light colored sheercurtains. The liners are white but thick so they block the light fully. I think I got them from One Step Ahead. Her curtains hang a few inches on either side of her windows and have a lot of slack so I can block out light from all angles.

I can get her room almost fully dark anytime of day which was great when she was napping.

My kids both have blackout curtains, but they aren't enough. I just ordered blackout liners from One Step Ahead.
DD has been up super early, so I am hoping these help!

I have blackout curtains from Restoration Hardware in DD1 room & they are great!
In DD2, whose room directly faces east (with no trees or houses) we put in plantations shutters & it works perfect!

We have blackout curtains from PBK. The boys' room is a dark cave until we open the curtains. $, but worth it IMO!

Black out curtains are amazing! We use them, they truly work, the room stays nice and dark and we noticed we do get that extra bit of sleep. We got ours at Target on clearance for like 3 bucks a panel.
