I agree....not like I know what I'm talking about...but if I were that baby, with soft, developing bones and tissue, I might feel a little crunched!

I agree.
But I am sure that she bought a hotsling or whatever and those are perfectly safe.

Re: Keri Russell & family
Those slings make me nervous... like the baby could just tip right out. I'm sure it's safe, but they still make me nervous. He is such a cutie.

I have actually heard a lot about the benefits of wearing your baby in a sling. I'm not sure how old her baby is, looks like maybe 3-5 months old, but I don't think he/she is too big for the sling and I don't think the baby is feeling to bad in there. In fact for the first few months they say the baby is more comfortable in an enclosed space and nestled as close to their mom as possible (like the womb).
I guess from your comments the issue isn't that she uses the sling but that she uses it a lot- I'm not sure how long the baby should be in the sling, plus since it's summer time I would worry that the baby would overheat. But, she's the mom, she's right there so she can check on the baby to make sure it's all right, and honestly I am just glad to see a celebrity spending time with their baby. As a mom, I try not to judge other moms on their decisions on how to handle their kids (unless it's something stupid and dangerous like driving with your kid on your lap), because I wouldn't want to be judged myself.

Re: Keri Russell & family
She lives in NYC - it's a hell of a lot easier for her AND more comfortable for him -to carry the baby in that thing and have your hands free then it is to manuver a stroller through Manhattan -

My comment wasn't meant in a negative way at all, when I have #2 one day, I'm totally getting a sling! It's just that every time a pic is taken of her by the paps she has River in that sling- it would be cute to see all of him once.

I'm not good at keeping up with celebrity news (I didn't even know she had a kid!) so I figured it was something like that. I totally get your point that it seems like she's hiding her baby in that thing all the time, and honestly in that close-up it almost looks like her kid is thinking "get me outta here." I just didn't want anyone else to get the idea that she's doing something wrong or hurting her child.

Re: Keri Russell & family
We see photos of him in the sling while she is out and about, it's not like he spends 24 hours a day in that thing. I don't see the big deal.

Yeah, before I even opened this thread I said to myself "bet the kid is in a sling". I'd like to see him as well although this is the first time I've seen his face. She looks terrific.

Re: Keri Russell & family
what an adorable baby! and I love that she is carrying him in a sling, babies love slings, they feel close to their moms... when I put ds in a sling, he falls asleep right away, he seems so happy in it...
