Kidney Stones

I just spent practically the entire weekend at the hospital (with two emergency room trips) with DH. He has kidney stones again!!!! This is the 3rd time in 3 years!!! Does anyone know anyone who has suffered from this? I'm beginning to worry about this b/c I read that first time suffers may get them again within 10 years and it's hitting him every year.

Re: Kidney Stones

My dad and uncle have both had this. From what I know it's only happened once. I think he should speak with his doctor since it's recurring every year. He could have a build up of calcium.

Re: Kidney Stones

I've had them two times in the past. Once the pain just went away. Several years later I had pain and they went in with a basket to retrieve them.

My mother had them once and they were able to blast them with a laser.

FIL has them now and he is going for the basket retrieval.

Re: Kidney Stones

I have them.
I've had 2 attacks in 7 and 1/2 years.
Each time they passed on their own (one took a week, the other a day)
Each time death would have been better.

However, I am told I have them in BOTH kidneys and it's just a matter of time until I get another attack.

Has he had an IVP test where they inject the dye and xray the kidney? That will tell them where they are and how many...and if they are positioned right he can have them blasted with sound waves to break them up.

Also diet and hydration are important- depending on the type of stone he has he might need to adjust his diet.

I know how awful it is... so I wish him the best of luck! Chat Icon
