Where did you get a bicycle for your 4/5 year old?

We'll be getting ours at either Target/Walmart or Babies R Us.

I was going to get from a real bike store but I saw one that DD will LOVE on Amazon and Target....so I'll get from Amazon.

bike shop! some shops now offer trade-up programs where once a kid grows out of a bike you can return it to the store and get credit towards an upgrade...

there is a HUGE difference in quality from the 1st bike we got DD (i think from toys r us?) to the one she rides now...i think it's a trek?

T 7 my son has one from a bike store, but between the ages four and 7 and went through two sized bikes, Someone recommended to me that I should go cheap on those and get a nicer one as he gets older and I so glad I took their advice. He did not need an expensive bike before. NOw, at 7 we do take long bike rides and I am happy he has a bettter bike,

I'm big into bikes (my good bike was over $1000), but I'm getting cheap bikes for DC (Walmart, TRU, etc) until they are old enough to really know how to ride well. DS's current bike was from TRU.

My kids first bikes are from TRU. Once they mastered riding one, then they get a better quality one from a bike shop..

TRU and Target we got them at. They grow out of them way to quickly.

I just bought DD a Huffy from Target yesterday. At $59, I figured it was a good starter bike to learn on. I went to the bike shops but I couldn't justify spending $180+ for a bike for her just yet (and DH and I own Trek bikes). We'll spend more on her next bike.

I would get something less expensive at Targert or Walmart.
She will outgrow it eventually and I dont' think you need anything super expensive or fancy at that age.
