Just wondering if you have you had to bring your kids to any stores yet? Dd came with me to run into King Kullen to pick up a few ingredients for a dinner one night and I couldn’t leave her home alone. She also had to come with me to the post office to mail a birthday package to her bff.

Re: Kids in stores

My DH has taken my son with him to Target. During Easter he came with me to pick up some ingredients I was missing.

I am only going to stores when my DH is home and this was like this before all this. I only bring my kids with me when I have no choice at all.

my DD did go into a fish store I think with my DH. she wore a mask and didnt touch anything.

most stores only really want one family member in the stores anyway but if you have no choice then you obviously need to bring them.

No. My husband and I are both home so there is no reason to.

No - I either leave them home for a little alone if it's going to be a quick trip out or I wait until DH is home (he's only gone 2x a week for 24 hours)...

Kids in stores

Just my oldest- he is 9. He wears a mask and it is only for very quick errands. On Sunday mornings he & I will walk into town to get bagels for breakfast. I also get coffees for me & DH, so he holds the bagels while I hold the coffees. He went to the butcher with DH on Saturday to pick up our meat order.
Target, grocery stores, etc., he doesn't come.

Re: Kids in stores

No. My almost 2 year would never wear a mask (and they have said that it is not safe for kids that young to wear one) and my 6 year old hates grocery shopping. Either my husband or I go alone to get groceries.

No, one of us is always home so I don’t think it’s necessary. Not to mention my children are completely incapable of not touching things. They touch EVERYTHING.

Anyway, I’m sure they’re happy to not run errands, and I think all the mask wearing would be frightening for them. It creeps me out and I have an adult level understanding of the situation.

Kids in stores

My son has not been in a public place since March 13th.

My DS loves the grocery store and asks to come every single time, but since my DH is home it is a firm no. I have actually only seen one child in the store since March - granted I only go out at 7 am so it might be different later on in the day.

Ok this is all making me feel a little better that she came out with me cause I was so nervous to take her. I never see any kids out at stores when I go alone. My DD is good about wearing her mask and keeping her hands in her pockets the whole time, so she doesn’t touch anything. She just “wants to get out in the world” - her words lol.

Our supermarket limits one family member at a time (although I see many that don't seem to abide by that) so I never see kids there.

I did see a kid in Target the other day.

My kids hate going to the store so they are happy they aren't allowed lol.

Re: Kids in stores

No...my kids have not been inside any store, place etc since March 13th. My 14 year old is desperate to go to a store but I don't see any need. I feel like it's hard to social distance in the grocery store that I go to once every two weeks so I don't want to add to other shopper's discomfort by taking an extra person just because she "wants" to go.

Luckily she is very compliant and understands.

So if you are a single mom you have to leave your kids home alone I guess. Or perhaps locked in the car.
There is no way they could enforce that rule for that very reason.

Re: Kids in stores

Once, 4 weeks ago I walked and went to Dunkin' Donuts, not thinking much about it. Since then no. My husband does 95 percent of all stores and appointments. He is essential and I stay at home so that if he gets sick, I can be healthy to take care of my toddler and newborn twins.

I think some people are literally bringing their entire families to the grocery store. I know Stop and Shop is only allowing one family member in the store at a time. I am assuming they would not make you leave your child unaccompanied and would let you take them in.

At my local grocery store, I see husbands and wives in the store together and I think that is unnecessary.

Usually my DH does all the shopping but Saturday night we were all out for a drive and we had to run in to Stop and Shop last minute and we all just went in- nobody stopped us.
I have yet to see anyone stopping anyone for anything (masks, kids, multiple family members) at any store I have been to- be it Target, Stop and Shop.

They haven't gone into any stores. I never take them food shopping though it takes 3x as long with them. If I had to take them I would though - People need to get what they need to get. As long as you have them wash their hands when they are done, I wouldn't stress over it.

I see nothing wrong with it when you don’t have a choice. Some parents still have to work outside the home or are single parents and have to bring their kids with them. It’s the people who are treating like an event and take the whole family with them (both parents, several kids) that annoys me. I just think it’s common courtesy during these times to limit your trips to the store and send just one person to do the shopping if possible...

ETA my kids have not left the house other than that first week when I was still in the office and my husband was home. My husband goes to the grocery store alone to shop for us.

Stop and Shop in Bellmore is only allowing one family member in at a time.

I have yet to see anyone without a mask on in a store (other than one guy who ran in to pick up his to-go order at the bagel store). I also have only seen one child in a store and that was a single mom (I know her) picking up a coffee.

Yes I have yet to see anyone without a mask, my point was, I have also yet to see anyone enforcing anything at the doors of any store I have been in.
And I am living proof that they aren't enforcing because the 3 of us waltzed right into Stop and Shop in Sayville on Saturday night and nobody stopped us. As we were shopping some auto annoucment about social distancing and asking that only one family member shop at a time- but it was just that an auto announcement over the piped in music.
At the self check out the teenage girl who was the self check out attendant had her mask down around her neck- so I highly doubt she gave a crap that my daughter was with us for the less than 10 minutes we were in the store.
And Saturday I saw a few kids in Target.
Nobody was at those doors either- just a sign about masks.

No I have 3 year olds. My husband is working from home while I’m at work. I haven’t gone to the store either, I don’t want to infect others god forbid I’m carrying something from the hospital. I only have things delivered. My kids haven’t been anywhere along with myself since 3/13. I go to work and that’s it

The only stores I have physically been in were Target, Trader Joe’s and King Kullen to get only a couple last minute items (I get Peapod delivery through Stop n Shop - so I never go in there). I did Target and Trader Joe’s by myself and my DH does Iavarone’s and Bj’s by himself.
