kids volunteering question
I just started tutoring a new family... an 8th grade boy who wants to go to private HS and a 15 year old girl who is graduating HS next June (yes, before her 16th birthday!).... they want to do volunteer work or a part-time job, something interesting and worthwhile for the summer.... everything I can think of requires you to be at least 16 years old....... can anyone think of anything for me??? thanks in advance! Camp ANCHOR!!!
You only have to be 14 and it's an AMAZING experience!
ETA - It's likely too late for this summer, though... I think they take applications pretty early - but it never hurts to check!

Re: kids volunteering question
How about a local hospital? I have no idea if they require volunteers to be a certain age, but Im sure they would welcome any volunteers

Re: kids volunteering question
The library reading program Local Hospital volunteer Long Island Cares is always looking for helpers. Island Harvest is also looking for helpers, especially those who can work the phones and computers in the office.

Re: kids volunteering question
Some libraries have a book buddies program where teens read to little ones and many of them take children younger than 16.

Camp ANCHOR is truly an amazing place....My S/O's two nephews go there for the summer. We have gone there to pick them up a few times, not sure if I want to smile or cry when I see these "kids". They are truly special!!!!
