kind of spinoff to vitamins- and fluoride did your ped not recommend fluoride?
Did anyone's ped give you the impression that they really don't recommend fluoride??? mine surprisingly did- she told me she is not allowed to sway my opinion but wanted me to google it and research it before deciding...i thought this was odd but was glad she was at least being honest. anyway, once i googled it and read what i read i have decided no fluoride. i'm not even sure that is the right thing so that is why i am asking this! TIA!

Mine did not say not to do it, but she did say the only reason for taking the vitamins this early is to get the fluoride and to research whether I thought he should have it or not.
ETA: other than the fluorosis issue, did you find anything else out in your research?

What did you find in your research?? DD's ped just prescribed vitamins WITH flouride (that I've yet to get filled ) and didn't mention anything "controversial" about it.

well, i am just now looking again and am just so unsure...i mean i know googling something really can't be considered serious research right? what i have found is a lot of negative stuff however saying that it does more harm than good, that it is toxic and very unnecessary too..again, is this TRUE? i just don't know and need to talk to the ped at length at the next appt. i just think it is interesting that she suggested i look into it first. sorry if i am being an alarmist!

It depends on the doctor & how "American" they are. Many of my doctors are more toward eastern medicine and do not see any real result from fluoride in the vitamins, since it is already in our water. That and it can cause a bone deficiency in certain cases. I heard something at one point about reactions in the liver, but I have yet to find that information anywhere solid.
I just believe that the whole purpose is to have better teeth, but the reality is at 6 mos they are not keeping these teeth anyway, so why expose the jaw bones to the fluoride so soon, KWIM?

My ped didn't recommend fluoride, but he said it's because it's not necessary because our township's water is fluoridated. My DS just started taking vitamins at 18 months though-over the counter Poly-vi-sol
