Kinda freaking out- Jordana's 1st Bday party- food question?
So we were supposed to have BBQ this sunday for Jordana's 1st b-day party at 1:00. We are expecting around 30 people- 4 of them are kids under 1.
Well, since its supposed to be 45 degrees and rainy, we are moving the party to my sister's apartment.
So now what do I do for food? I was thinking bagels, cream cheese, salads, fruit platter, veggie platter, chips, dips, snacky food and then desert foods (B-day cake, cookies, a pie).
Is that enough? Do I need to do sandwhiches?
ACCCK! Damn weather screwing up my perfect plans
eta: we are doing this kosher style. we would not do bagels with cream cheese and meat. So the sandwhiches would have to be veggie only. OR ditch the cream cheese and only go with sandwhiches.

Re: Kinda freaking out- Jordana's 1st Bday party- food question?
For Alex's first bday, we had a party in our house, with about 30 people also.
I got bagels, I think 4 dozen, a tub of cream cheese, a tub of whitefish salad, a tub of potato salad, a tub of coleslaw and some lox. I also put out some tomatoes and onions (of course)
In addition to that, I got some drinks, and I put out maybe 3 bags of chips or something like that.
Dessert was the cake, and actually, a few people brought dessert along with them so we served that as well.
Soooooooo, to answer your question, NO you don't need sandwiches!

Since its lunch time - i would most definitely include sandwiches - maybe add a platter of cold cuts so people can make their own sandwiches with some rolls.......
The salads, fruit salads, veggie platters etc...will be a nice compliment to it.

Happy Birthday Jordana!

Don't think you need sandwiches-- just get a couple of more salads and you will be fine...
I would go in to H&H bagels and see what they suggest for the amount of people you are having....
I hope Jordana has a great 1st Birthday.

I think you need some sort of cold cut platter and some rolls or bread for a party at 1:00

Since it's at 1...maybe people would have already had breakfast type foods and sandwiches might be the better bet

I would ditch the cream cheese and go with sandwiches.

Can you maybe include some tuna and egg salads for people who want some protein. Maybe a quiche?

I think the bagels are fine. If I were invited to a 1pm party, I would think "lunch".
If you could do some vegetarian lunch items, I would add them in.

I think the you should add maybe egg or tuna salad or even grilled veggies. Maybe make a garden salad and a bean salad for the side. That way it is still kosher.
