kindergarden / elementary school - cost for extra hours?
trying to figure out how much this costs so dh can adjust the long term budget, i know it will vary location/year.. we would be in East Meadow schools, or possibly a catholic school.
When the child is done with daycare at 5/6? years old and goes to Kindergarden-
How much does it cost for the morning hours drop off 830am and afternoon hours til 430?
Also for those in catholic school how much extra does that cost?
thanks!

Honestly, I don't think you should adjust these things into your budget yet, you don't know where you will be and the costs can change drastically!

5 day a week morning and afternoon care runs about $400 in my western Suffolk County District. To give you an idea, I pay $160 per month for only two days (am and pm).

Re: kindergarden / elementary school - cost for extra hours?
Our district has a breakfast club for early drop off.. but the school bus is usually here by 8:30 so we don't use it. If we need a little extra time you can drop your child off for breakfast at the school at 8am.
We pay 9 dollars a day for after care. They bus the kids to the after care facility and keep them there until 6pm. You can use it as many or as few days as you need. But enrollment fills up FAST.
It's not East Meadow - but a few of my friends in different districts have similar pricing.

Re: kindergarden / elementary school - cost for extra hours?
i don't have kids yet.. but i work at a school in NJ. i just checked out the cost for their program. for just mornings (from 7:15-8:45 its $75 a month) for just afternoons ( from 3:30-6), its $215 a month. so i guess to do both it would be about $300 a month... but its a great program, they have lots of activities for the kids, they provide snacks, homework time, etc...

well, as of right now the baby will be in daycare at $1,040 a month, we like to try and set an estimate- and inflation so we have a ballpark range.. dh projects out for like the next 10 years and makes updates durring the year
i didnt have a clue how much the kindergarden cost would vary.. I know my sister always says the morning/afternoon kindergarden program costs her almost as much as daycare
