Kindergarten - before care?
Here's my dilemma...I'm trying to figure out what to do with Joseph for Kindergarten. only has 1/2 day
I'd prefer to send him to one place all day but here are the problems.
I have to make a 7:30 train. I have to leave by 7:10 in order to drop Maddie off at daycare and make this train. Bus pickup for the school we want to send him is between 7:30-7:50am.
If it were you - what would it take to get someone to watch a 5 year old for a 1/2 hour M-F am? I really dont' want to have to pay for someone to watch him since we're paying for a private school. I'm home every Friday night - would someone be willing to trade babysitting every Friday night to do this? If I had to pay someone, what would I offer? I'm wondering if I can somehow register him at my mom's & have the bus pick him up there?

Can your mom watch your child before the bus comes and then you'll be able to get him after school?

Re: Kindergarten - before care?
She can but she lives in another town, another school district. I'm not sure if I can finagle that school district to pay for busing since we don't reside there.
After school isn't a problem - we're planning on paying aftercare - which runs until 6pm. They help him with his homework, etc. DH picks up the kids by 5:30pm.

Can you talk to your manager about changing your hours so you go in a little later and leave a little later? That way you can put him on the bus yourself? Someone I worked with at my last job did that, he got in an hour later than the rest of us.

Yeah, that sounds like a great idea. Maybe you can go in later and work through lunch.

Re: Kindergarten - before care?
If I lived closer I would totally help out.
Can you start g etting some mail swent to your mom's and say that you live there I ma sure they will want some type of mail as proof you live there.
Does any of your neighbors have children that go to the same school or have to put thier child on a bus that you can ask. I think paying someone for 1/2 hour isn't worth it but if you were going to offer I would offer maybe $30 a week since its not even an hour that may even be too much I don't know

Re: Kindergarten - before care?
Thanks everyone! I'm going to check out the school next week & more than likely sign him up. I'll have to figure out the schedule over the summer...sigh
