Kindle or Nook

I'm sure this has been asked before, but which one do you have and do you love it? Wish you got something else?

Re: Kindle or Nook

I have the Kindle and I have had it for over a year. I love it except I am starting to get frustrated by the fight between Amazon and several publishers. Some of my favorite authors are not available through Amazon Kindle anymore, until the issue is resolved. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I was researching the Nook and I like the idea that you can "share" your books with other people for 14 days! That is a great feature!

Re: Kindle or Nook

I have only used a Nook and I love it.

The Kindle is similar and I have heard great things about it as well.

As PP said the sharing a book option appealed to me and at the time I was buying my DH researched the Nook (which was new) and he said it got better reviews so he went with that one Chat Icon

Re: Kindle or Nook

I have the Nook and LOVE it!! I only have had it for a few weeks and I am already on my 4th book!! Besides the free lending between nooks, the feature that I have been using most is being able to borrow e-books through the public library!!! I have only bought 1 book for the nook, the rest I borrowed from the public library. The nook also has "free Fridays" and they have a new book every friday that you can download for free. You also can also read books for free on the nook if you are in barnes and noble, but I haven't done that yet.

Re: Kindle or Nook

I didn't know you could borrow books from the library with the Nook, I thought that was only from the Sony e-reader. Another point for the Nook.

you just have to go to your library's site and download the software and they will guide you through the set up process, it's very easy.

Re: Kindle or Nook

I just went out and purchased my Nook! I have been going back and forth between the Kindle and Nook for a few months and am leaving for a long vacation tomorrow and decided to just try it out (you have 14 days to return if you don't like it).

FYI -- I was told that the feature where you can lend a book out to someone else for 14 days will only work once per book. E.g., if you lend out Book 1 to Friend A, you can't ever lend out Book 1 again.

BUT a really neat feature was the sharing of your library with up to 5 other nooks. You can all access the same books at the same time, for as long as you want!

So excited to try it out!!

Re: Kindle or Nook

I have a first generation Kindle and it works just fine. I love the wireless. I do wish I had a NOOK so that I can borrow from the library. I hate returning library books so this feature for me is great! I also think it's a snazzier device than the Kindle 1.

Re: Kindle or Nook

I have had a Nook since February. Love it. Love that you can share books with other Nook owners. Love the ease of downloading books. Thus far I do not have any complaints at all.
