Kit kat Cake - thanks to the girls on here! Etd with the results further down

There was a yummy kit kat cake thread not too long ago and that cake looked amazing - and inspired me to try it for my father's birthday for fun!

We will see how it tastes - but I did it a bit different than I think others did. I used a raspberry preserve filling and used dark chocolate M&Ms b/c my father loves dark chocolate.

So I thought I would share some pictures of how it came out!

Etd - bumping to add - We had the cake tonight and it was really good.

Instead of doing all chocolate icing I used raspberry preserves between the 2 layers of cake. It gave it a nice taste and kept it from being too chocolaty. I highly recommend it. Also it didn't breakup at all when we cut into it after removing the ribbon. I would definitely make it again.

Looks awesome! I think dark chocolate is a great idea.

I tried it this weekend too. I used a banana cake and cream cheese frosting . WAY TOO SWEET FOR ME but everyone else is still raving about it.

I love this board!

It IS a very sweet cake with all that chocolate - I only took a small piece and ate only about 1/2 of it. I gave it to my parents to take home and out of my house....LOL. Banana sounds good but it does sound like it would be sweet.

I used a box of cake mix - I made a butter cake. But you can use anything - I think some people use pound cake too. I made 2- 9 inch rounds. I put raspberry preserves in between the layers then covered the whole cake with chocolate frosting. Then I used regular size kit kat bars and broke the 4 pieces into 2 bars and placed them around the cake. Then I tied the ribbon around it to hold them in place. Finally I added dark chocolate M&Ms in the center I got a large back I think it was 12.5 ounces or about that size. It is very easy to make!
