Kitchen Cabinet Refacing?
Ok, I posted about a week ago regarding this. Sears came in today and gave us a quote of $8600, including countertop (formica). I think this is a bit excessive for refacing cabinets. They replace the doors and drawers. I don't understand We did our kitchen for $6,000 and that was brand new.
I am asking once again for any advice on this topic.

Re: Kitchen Cabinet Refacing?
Kitchen refacing can be an expensive option but the end result looks like brand new - in our case we had a small budget to work with....so it was the best option instead of getting all new cabs and gutting which would have cost more and been more time consuming. Our cabs were all hardwood and in good condition so the refacing made sense for us.
We paid 8200 for Corian counters and cabinet refacing. The cabinets on the sides of the stove were custom - they werent there before - it was a an old cooktop on a big cabinet that they removed.
We used a company called Kitchen Magic. They were great to work with and the whole job (counters/cabs and sink replacement only) took 4 days... We did the backsplash ourselves.

Your kitchen looks great. I still don't know what to do, I have an appointment at Lowes today to see how much new cabinets will cost, it is so frustrating because we just remodeling our entire house. We just finished our project and now our tenants are leaving and their whole place needs to be updated. year for us!

Yeh it may be better to just get all new cabs -- I don't know. It all depends on your budget and time. For us, the refacing worked and even tho it seemed alot, I think they did a great job and the work is guaranteed for as long as we own the house so if there are problems they will come fix it or replace.

Re: Kitchen Cabinet Refacing?
Me and my husband recently refaced our cabinets, installed a new floor, coutertop, and tile backsplash ourselves. If was very reasonably priced and the work was not too difficult.

Re: Kitchen Cabinet Refacing?
Thanks. We did all of the work ourselves. It was really all pretty easy (and fun) and we had absoultely no experience before this.
It's a co-op that we only plan on living in for a few years so we didn't want to spend a fortuune, but wanted to make it livable.
