Kitchen Cabinets - Cheap?
Just curious, does anyone have a hookup or know of a place to get plywood (not MDF) kitchen cabinets for a reasonable price? I got quoted 13,000 without installation at Home Depot - I was pretty shocked because we have approx 30 linear feet...

most stores carry kraftmaid or thomasville which is their brand...i eventually went with them for my cabinets and they were great!!

also wondering, does anyone have ikea cabinets and if so how are they? do they support granite countertops? I think they are particleboard and not 3/4 plywood if I'm not mistaken?

We don't have granite countertops, but I dont see why you couldnt have it. I believe Ikea also sells granite, so it must work. :)

I have Ikea cabinets, but I don't have granite countertops. As the PP said though, Ikea does sell granite countertops, so I would guess that the cabinets can support it.
ETA: I have only had the cabinets since July, but I love them.

Check out Consumers, we got a much better deal there then home depot or lowes. Consumers gave us much better design options for our kitchen when we went there.

In our first home we had Ikea cabinets with granite counters and we had no problems with them. I actually loved them. They held up so well.
In the home we are in now we added kraftsmade cabinets from Lowe's and we it was pretty reasonable I think for solid wood cabinets. We also got cherry with a mission style door. The more ornate the door the more expensive it is. Also what type of finish you get and wood the prices vary.

you can do way better for custom- AND have way better quality... way better.
My dad makes custom kitchens and he can beat that price by probably more than 3k and he does the install for free.
