Kitchen Countertop

My DH and I were pricing formica countertops at Home Depot this weekend. We would probably want to pay for it to be installed also. Before deciding whether or not to go with them, I wanted to post here to hear about your experiences.

Is there anyone that you would recommend that you found to be reasonable and reliable? We definitely want formica.

If you installed it yourself, was it very difficult to do? We have a few handy people in our family but no one has ever installed a countertop. They have always paid to have someone do it which is leading me to believe it may be difficult. TIA!

OK...I just read some past posts. There was a post about plastic laminate to cover countertops. We were thinking about doing formica because it's cheaper, but this also sounds like something we might be interested in doing. Could anyone share their experiences with either or?

We ordered our countertop from lowes and my dad installed along with my DH. It didn't take them long at all. The biggest PITA was taking out the kitchen sink. At first we were going to have Lowes do it. The guy was really honest and said it was easy to do and that Lowes charged a lot for installation. I hope this helps.

Thanks! Yeah...after reading some things on here, we were just discussing trying Lowe's.
