kitchen installation
can anyone give me a roundabout price for the installation of their kitchen cabinets and countertop? we ordered our cabinets a week ago, and are thinking that we are better off hiring someone to put them in rather than assuming that my husband and step-father will be able to.....any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

Re: kitchen installation
We installed our own cabinets ourselves, and really, it wasn't nearly as hard as you may think, and we both have ZERO experience installing cabinetry. It took about 2-3 days and they're still in there, very solidly. I'd still consider using your hubby and step-father - you can save a lot of money that way!

Re: kitchen installation
My DH and I are in the process of redoing our kitchen right now. We were surprised at how easily the cabinets went up and how good they look. You can save yourselves thousands by doing the cabinets yourself.

Fairly basic - a few complicated corner pieces, but DH was able to work it out. Really, though, if you do it yourselves, you can literally save THOUSANDS, and trust me, if DH and I could do it on our own, you can certainly do it yourselves! The only complication arises when you have the countertop/sink installed - we had a contractor help install the counter, and he still screwed it up a little.

Re: kitchen installation
We just redid ours and were going to install them ourselves. After all the work we have already done by ourselves we decided to hire someone at the last minute and were so happy we did. It ended up costing 1800 and was so worth it. they did a great job.

Re: kitchen installation
we installed the cabinets ourselves with the help of my uncle and cuousin (who are carpenters) but like the others said it was pretty easy. If you have molding, that may be the only part that is "hard", if you have to do tricky cuts. The cost of our countertop included installation... that was ~$60 a square foot for granite.
