Kitchen Island Lighting Ideas

I am looking for some ideas for kitchen island lighting. I do not want the traditional pendants. Thanks!

What is your kitchen style? For example, is it traditional? More country? Cottage-beachy? Sleek minimalism? Ornate?
I think more info would help us suggest some options?

Hmm..not sure what it would be considered.
It's still in the process of being built.
I have off-white cabinets, granite countertop in venetian gold (which is a mix of tans/browns), and then there will be the glass subway tiles for a backsplash.
