kitchen makeover

DH and I are thinking about re doing our kitchen in our co-op. One of the things we need to look for is cabinets. If you recently put in new cabinets in your kitchen how much did you spend, where did you get them? Also post pics if you can....

We went through Consumers. I would not recommend going there unless you're OK with stock everything. Stock advice, stock planning, stock cabinets. I wish we had spent a little more time and money and went with a custom cabinet maker. For what we spent - we should have gotten a lot more.

We did cabinets and an island. Our cabinets cost around $7K total. We had our contractor install so I'm not sure what it would be if they installed as well.

We upgraded the style of the doors, but not the finish.

I don't know how many square feet of cabinets we have - but it's not much. I am going by what my bro's co-op kitchen looked like and would say we had the same amount of cabinets.

We also went through Consumers and i disagree with the above poster slightly. We got great planning advice, good suggestions and the cabinets we bought were exactly the same ones offered at HD, Lowe's and other kitchen places (Kraftmaid) but ended up being cheaper by about $3,000 overall.
We spent approx $11,000 on our cabinets - they've got all the bells and whistles (soft close, pull out drawers, hardwood shelving etc.).

Our contractor installed them also (I don't believe Consumers does installation anyway)

I think you can get a wide variety of quotes on cabinets - it really does all depend on the number of cabinets you get, then the style and finish of the cabinets can add a lot as well. I've heard lots of good things about Ikea cabinets if you want to check them out also.

we just got ours from Home Depot! they were just installed this week !
i only have a picture of the cabinets.. still remodeling our kitchen!
